We should only sign staff who promise a win rate over 85%. I wonder if Ryles or Hannay came up with the bigger number?

We should sign a coach who wants to improve the defense to be a dominant side...

Premierships and high win rate are both a product of being competitive. Win rate is granular so a better way to measure a team than premierships, especially over a very short time frame like six years.

Otherwise why are merkins pissing and moaning over missing the finals? We are no worse than the other 15 teams that don’t win the comp ffs
Win rate is fine if you were a struggling team looking to move up the ladder because it’s a tangible improvement. However, eventually a playing group or coaching setup will reach a point where that’s not enough and you need to be challenging for premierships or something has to change.

We should get the coach we had in 2016 or 2020.

What shows you’re challenging for premierships? What’s the objective measure other than premierships?

It is my opinion that your rebuild will take 3-4 years. You need to change the front office, you will pick a new coach this year, it will take him a year to work out the wheat from the chaff in the squad, it will take him a minimum of 18months to clear out the squad and rebuild it...3-4 years at best.

nah, we got quality in the key positions, some good young players coming through.

better call it a re tooling than a re build

Quality that has taken us to last place.

i know this team hasnt performed well this year but you cant deny that moving forward we got a strong core of players. we need some better coaching, improve our defense, so yes we need a few new players but the idea that we need to get rid of everyone and arnet going to see any success over a next few year i just dont believe

I am going to deny we have a strong core of players. Most of our current players are either ageing, regressing or just flat out reserve graders. With the decline due to age of most of our core players along with their long term contracts we are going to be in a world of pain for some time.

we have Moses, Brown, Hopgood, Penisini, Lomax, Gutherson, RCG, Talented youngers like MA and Blaize. we got 16 players off contract at the end of 2025.

all im saying is we dont need a 4 - 5 year 'rebuild' to be successful. if things go our way like we nail the head coach hire, the young guys we have turn into serviceable FGers and we sign another decent player. theres no reason we cant be successful next year.
