You seem to be a bit of an expert on the Fainu brothers? So you would be aware that Sione has been with the Tigers since he was 19 for 3 years (not 1) and doesnt currently have a contract with the Tigers?
I think you misread my post. Just so we’re clear it’s lucky you didn’t lose the Fainus and Stefano within a year of each other. But at least the standards now, compared to whenever you signed them, have improved

It would be funny if they dropped off a few other targets on the market by putting all there eggs into Paps and missing out.

May was perfect for where there at now.
The beauty of May coming to the Tigers (despite the fact we really , really really REALLY need him) is that Dragons were really desperate to sign him, Roosters are desperately wanting to sign Hunt (in fact I believe that was the reason for releasing May). If Dragons hadnt released Hunt it would be a simple swap.

Not sure how I misread your post. you said that "that could’ve meant the chop for Sione too". Right now Sione doesnt have a contract with the Tigers, so what the hell are you talking about?

Then you said "That would’ve been 3 players you lovingly nurtured away from their evil junior clubs to then leave in the space of a year"....despite the fact Sione has been with the Tigers for 3 years since he was 19.

Its almost like you wouldnt have a clue what you are talking about.

Ok cool. Probably retire from the nest egg he was paid in previous contract.

You see I knew you misread it and I tried to assist you but your 3rd grade teachers can probably help you better.

I’ll admit I wasn’t cognisant of Sione Fainu having been at your club for 3 years since he was 19, and that I have no clue as to it’s relevance either.

I lie, I do have a clue, it’s almost like
you misread my post.

Sounds like the club is admitting what a cock up some of these options and looking to remove them.
No it sounds like we are offering an extension, as we always were going to, and the media is reporting it as an attempt to rewrite the contract. If the player wanted the clauses in the first place why would he just agree to get rid of them now? In exchange for the PO he will want money, which is the same thing he gave up when he agreed to the PO in the first place.

Very Interesting that just changing the Head Coach can do to player contracts..

Thought we had a panel that worried about this Ryles must have looked at them and thought yeh nah we fixing this shit...

POs are the dumbest thing.
If they are never activated then they cost the club nothing. Meanwhile the player lost whatever cash he agreed to forfeit in exchange for accepting the PO. It's an insurance policy sold by the club to the player. Plenty of businesses rip merkins off by selling them insurance.

POs are used in just about every major sport in the world. They are not inherently dumb in and of themselves. But....when offering them you've got to factor in the rest of your player portfolio (i.e. how many other POs do you have, how many are exerciseable in Year X, at what date does the player have to choose to trigger the option, when do other players contracts expire). That's where we've rolled the dice and lost.

You're an idiot anyone told you that?

Our club would not be offering PO for the player to take less cash... We were not that smart...

Without the options, Moses would have just signed a vanilla contract which took him to end 2026. It’s the player and agent who wanted to play silly buggers. You can’t see that ? Player Options after 2026 are like being engaged to be married. The club will take it, but obviously prefer a long term signing.

He might get his $1.1m a year now.

Well he did sign this contract back in 2023 so a 3 year contract is not unreasonable if it was finishing up in 2026 without the PO.

You have to ask the question though why do these managers play silly buggers with clubs like Penrith/Roosters or even Cronulla.

Cronulla don't have a player option on there books not bad for the side that has the best backline in the comp

Seriously you are hell bent on making this a huge problem. Basically he is off contract Nov 25.

Why does Roosters not have POs with Isaac Moses clients ? Because they won’t deal with him.

Clearly you prefer that his contract has no PO. Fine, it really doesn’t change anything.
