I agree that Arthur did show a ruthless side on occasions when it came to roster management. Nathan Brown and Fui were dealt with pretty harshly. Would he have done the same for Gutherson and RCG tho? I have my doubts because they were obviously two of his favourites. If he let his personal feelings get in the way of what’s best for the team then you can certainly say that’s a weakness of his as a coach.
It’s got nothing to do with personal feelings getting in the way of what’s good for the team. Coaches need senior players they can trust, and that has proven to work for Brad Arthur and our club in the past. However we go next year, we’ll never know if we would have gone better or worse if we’d kept Brad Arthur’s, Gutherson or RCG. That’s a fact.
As far as finals records go we have to look at the outcome at the end of the day. If people are calling Penrith a dynasty now despite two of their grand final wins with a victory of 2 points then would we be saying a similar thing if they had lost them? No we’d be looking at the outcome and saying they’re chokers. You can say our two point loss in 2021 was because of bad luck but at the end of the day we weren’t clutch (despite the dubious refereeing) and Penrith were clutch for two of their grand final wins.
Right but this is my point. People have dopey lizard brains and assume the thing that happened was the only possible outcome. Then they create post hoc causal narratives that completely ignore the impact of randomness (luck) on the outcome. Some of these dopey merkins even support the Eels.

As much fun as it is to put shit on Parra, and in particular their addiction to PO's, I dont think there is enough money in Australia to commit a player of Luai's talent to a club as bad as ours for 5 years and to be honest we shouldnt want that either. If its going to work there will be evidence in the next 12-18 months. Luai is not the question, Benji and the club are.

Green shoots and Im grateful for that

West's needed something a little extra to get the deal done with an elite talent. Given they have won three spoons in a row, it's understandable.

We give options out to players like penisini and matterson.

Business so smart the club Won't even do it any more.....
