What a shit article. They're starting to lose traction on the story so they just make something up and then carayannis says "make of that what you will".

You know who else wasn't in the leadership group? Joe Ofahengaue, and he's played nearly 200 NRL games and for QLD. Is that a snub too. Absolutely grubs the lot of them.
Leadership group schmeadership group. Just because they are or aren’t announced isn’t going to change who the actual leaders are on the field

Dylan Brown 'will be staying at Parramatta' as Eels star cops $1.2m truth bomb from NRL great

The Parramatta Eels are facing a tough dilemma with one of their star playmakers.

NRL greats Scott Sattler and Mat Rogers have reacted to reports Dylan Brown wants a $1.2 million deal if he leaves the Parramatta Eels and suggested the five-eighth isn't worth that price. Brown's agent caused a stir at the beginning of the year having reached out to rival clubs to see the playmaker's worth on the open market.
The five-eighth has up until round 10 of the 2025 NRL season to trigger his player option to stay at the club. Brown is on around $900,000 at the Eels and was expected to stay on for a number of years.
However, his agent managed to stir up media hype around the 24-year-old as negotiations with the Eels started to intensify. Brown has been linked to the Roosters with Trent Robinson short on NRL halves after Luke Keary's exit and Sam Walker's injury.

Although Brown could very well stay at Parramatta and just be looking to slightly boost his current contract. While new coach Jason Ryles and the board will be thrilled if this comes to fruition, Sattler isn't so sure Brown is worth the money being reported.

"The reports are there are some clubs are interested in him. I would be highly surprised. I think, that would be the management saying that to the media," Sattler said on SEN Radio on Tuesday. Sattler went on to compare Brown's situation to that of new Wests Tigers recruit Jarome Luai.
Dylan Brown receives a pass.

Dylan Brown (pictured) is reportedly receiving interest for around $1.2 million from rival clubs.

Luai will earn $1.2 million a season in his five-year deal at the Tigers. However, Luai is a four-time premiership winner with the Panthers and brings with him a wealth of experience to the struggling club. And Sattler compared the situation of what Luai had to deal with during Nathan Cleary's injury in 2024, to that of Brown's leadership when Mitchell Moses was out injured for the majority of the season.

Interesting that his salary reported here at around $900k is probably more correct than the $1m reported by most other media outlets.

good

now can we just get on with playing footy

Ofahengaue is probably on a lot less money than Dylan Brown?

Leadership should be a prerequisite for earning 900k+ Per season as an NRL player.

You guys watched this video yet? Look at the old Parra players on stage front and centre, look at the fact Moses entire family is part of the day and moment. His young wife and kids there, and wider family, lots of focus on family. Look at the boys posing for that photo it actually looks like a family photo being taken with genuine fondness.

Honestly that video and those moments show me we have come a heck of a long way in our culture and off field behaviour. I cannot tell you how many times I’ve cringed previously watching the young players yahooing and generally acting like children in the background of moments like these.

What a change, hey? It’s also not unnoticed Ryles in the background but I think he conducts these things very well.

I reckon earning 900k+ means there's more demand than supply, even the worst starting halves next year are likely to be earning 750k+. intangible qualities like leadership would have very little on what a club pays a half in 2025.

Was Moses in the leadership group the year he was turning 25? It's evidently something that can come out in someone as they mature.

We finally have an adult back in charge, it’s light and day on what we’ve seen previously.

Baldy was too busy trying to build a siege mentally with his coaching staff and the playing group against the rest of the world.

Sadly they included the rest of the club and it seemed even the fan base at times.

More to the point, we didn’t owe him anything, apart from transparency, respect and dignity in our dealings with him, which I think we gave him.
And while I’m thinking about it, I don’t think it was us playing out his contract negotiations in the media.
Ultimately both parties benefited from his time at the club and parted ways after discussions that appear to be have been carried out in good faith.

I'm glad he gets to keep playing, because I love watching him play.

I'm glad that our club is not footing the majority of the bill.

Cool video and that’s the way a new captain should be celebrated.
Junior was looking trim. Unless he was sucking it on for the photo.

Let's wait and see if it improves our win rate. Under the current mob we are at about 55% with Arthur's and Barrett.
