I dunno how good you think I'm claiming him to be. I just said he is our best since Gibson. Who's better than Stuart in the past 40 years? Monie? Hagan? Smith? Stuart is better than all of them. And ironically has the worst record of any Eels coach since Lynch.

Yeah I’d say Smith was better. Unless Stuart was a huge loss to begin with and left to go to a stronger club I don’t see how that has anything to do with us being perennial underdogs.

Stuart is slightly better than Smith, as evidenced by his marginally better win rate. He also has a significantly better finals record, but only 24 games isn't a very big sample.

The real issue here is whether Moses will be back for the Dragons game on the 28th...15 days time?
Maybe he will be right for the Titans game and NSW couldn't risk him? Doubt it but hopefully at least the Dragons game.
What if NSW loses the 2nd game, does Moses get recalled if fit?
Lots of questions for a Friday morning?

I stopped caring in 2014, when I became a dad for the first time (that I know of)....and realised there's more to life than a game of footy. Now I just enjoy the games regardless...

Still, it would be great to win a premiership....but I'll go to bed an hour later and realise it didn't really change my life in any way.
This is the worst part of parenthood. Its like being bit by a vampire and you become a zombie.

Smith easily. You seem to be ignoring the squads they both inherited.

Use whatever metric you want but opinions matter.

Using your metric Shane Flanagan is better than all of them.
Speaking of Shane Flanagan he could be a chance to win the spoon this year.

After they play us in 2 weeks,

I have seen the Dragons run home i doubt they would start favourites in more then 1 game.

Horror run home i reckon if we could manage to knock them off they would be shorter odds with the Knights, Titans to get the spoon.

Eels @ Wollongong - Favourites
Raiders @ Canberra - Outsiders
Roosters @ Kogarah - Outsiders
Bullodgs @ Accor - Outsiders
Cowboys @ Townsville - Outsiders
Raiders @ Wollongong - Outsiders
Sharks @ Kogarah - 50/50
Warriors @ Mt Smart - Outsiders
Souths @ Accor - Outsiders
Manly @ Kogarah - 50/50
Penrith @ Wollongong - Outsiders

How many do you see them winning in that run home

Not weird as at all

The only pleasure I am getting at the moment is watching the rookies in the NRL team plus the development players in the lower grades play.

Its frustrating watching the club chase players and constantly be knocked back Galvin is the latest along with this King-Tongia kid now playing int he NRL and just scored ffs...

It's giving me 2002/03/04 vibes.
Since Ryles took over we have been very successful with our recruiting (while admitted missing the big key signing - but I think Galvin was an anomaly). I would say Fox, Lomax, Walker, Iongi, Williams, Ryley Smith, Hawkins have all been winning additions. It's going to be hard without Moses for the next however long but this is definitely the most excited I've been about the Eels and the coaching in many years.

I like Ricky Stuart as a coach mainly because of his sideline passion/theatrics and the personality he brings.
The coaches sitting up in the box is about as boring as lawn bowls especially when they are stone faced (BA). At least Ryles looks like a fired-up alpha in the box rather than a vegetable.
I've written to the NRL in the past demanding the coaches be made to watch from the sideline, so they add something to game day.

who can forget the day Wayne Bennett splashed his dacks on the sideline live on TV when his son Scott Minto scored the winning try in golden point?

if and only if we beat them in a few weeks they would have to be close to odds on favourites..

I would say that Sticky and Smith are on par yes Sticky has won a grand final but let's not pretend that the team was there for him ready to go.

Both have longevity and built some pretty decent teams over the years Smith at the Eels and Sticky with the Raiders.
Both seem to look at junior development as well
