What astounds me about the Tigers is how they've given up Campbelltown through to Liverpool and across to Penrith. That's a junior area Eels need to target while Tigers are focused on Leichardt and Concord, areas bereft of juniors.

The expansion of the NRL into Perth and PNG is good for rugby league because 1) It will thin the elite talent across teams and force clubs to develop their depth in their junior supply chains and 2) because of this thinning of elite talent the focus on skills, athleticism and footy-IQ is required, hopefully the NRL develops a similar programme to the AFL's Auskick.

Long gone are the days of league thuggery where a class and quality team like 1977's Eels could be brutalised by outright bastardy in a grand final unpronounced MMA mismatch from Harry Bath and his malefactors.

The NRL of today into the future was built on the style of league the late 1970s Eels brough to the world: fast, talented, skilled at the same time humble, good-natured kid next door footy know-how.

What, a program of lies and bullshit about participation and membership numbers and cheap giveaways and 10's of thousands of free tickets which are rarely used?
No thanks. The NRL doesn't need bribery like that. We are doing just fine growing the game without the bullshit propaganda.

lol yes, all that too.

But I was referring to their skills programme. Auskick is a great introduction to basic football handling skills without pummeling the kid into oblivion like league and yawnion.

If we could at least have a weight and age junior system like the Kiwis produced Nathan Cleary that would be enough for starters.

The Tigers are up to the back wheels in the Campbelltown junior catchment. They aren't giving it up. This is assuming they remain 'shackled' to the Magpies.

I live and work in the area and the Tigers are no where to be seen.

Everyone loves Panthers, Eels and Bulldogs (if in Liverpool region).

Tigers = Balmain = inner city hipsters, dinks, and nu-men

HAHAHAHAHAHA!
Watch just 1 minute of any game. Handling skills - LOL!!
Yes yes I get it ozzie rules players fumble the ball and knock it on etc

But I recall my eldest came home and told me how to hold the ball to kick for goal: he said to hold the ball upright like it's a rocket and you're going to kick it to the moon. The laces are the window and you have to have your hands either side so they can see out. He then did the best punt ever.

I mean this sort of basic ball handling skills.

Like how to throw a soft short pass and a long spinning pass. How to do front on tackles, how to do a side on tackle.

NRL needs to engage the juniors in a non-contact sort of ball handling skills programme, as well as weight and age grades, to develop our kids.

They refuse to teach players to catch the ball!! LOL f**ken loosers!!!

Or maybe the ball they use is just harder to control? It is smaller, lighter and smoother than a rugby league ball. The Steeden is much easier to handle.
