Geeze you're up there with the sharpest minds. The Parramatta Eels are not a part of major league baseball.

Billy apologised this morningBilly the wankstain is the dirtiest merkin to ever play the game, still don’t know how Klemmer didn’t sit the merkin down when he kicked him in the head. At least Jarryd gave him one on the chin.
Hang on, you used a baseball link to strengthen your argument? Why not basketball or badminton?I think peeps have gone and assumed after Josh Hodgson, that all sporting contract MOs include a fall back Call option for the Player at a lower consideration. They don't. Normally, if the club declines, the player is a free agent.

Lane might have a similar pie n coke player option trigger, but it's a hasty conclusion to assume that he does, just because one or two have in the past.
Morally superior as I am it wasn’t whether I found it funny or not, it was that it was completely expected.I actually got a lot out of it as i have noted above.
I just found the "How did you get it so right" aspect incredibly funny.
Even a morally superior being such as yourself must see the humour in that?
<Sigh> It's just a demonstration how mutual options are used in sport across the world.Hang on, you used a baseball link to strengthen your argument? Why not basketball or badminton?
I had a conversation this morning and it was mentioned that our target is to have no less than 12 players in our NRL top 30 come from our pathways programs. And that the ones we have earmarked are all signed up.I thought the TCT interview was really good. It was a question and answer session, not a 7.30 report grilling some was expecting. The CEO was never going to answer why Hopgood is being picked, who are we signing, etc etc.
However it gave a good overview of our strategy moving forward (whether you agree or not). Some key points:
So it looks like, we are not going to try and get an instant/sugar kick, improvement by signing anyone. There is a more planned approach for on-going improvement/performance, with focus on pathway players, some external signings and nothing stupid to put cap out of place. Who knows if it will work, but in Ryles we trust.
- Ryles wants to create a learning organisation. It’s a management approach, read up on it. Mentions pathway coaches have been on the sideline with NSW cup and in the box with Ryles.
- CEO mentions, Ryles is implementing the plan he presented at his interview and has stuck to the process
- Recruiting players that suit the style Ryles wants to play
- 21min mark. Interesting discussion on our pathways. Long term approach taken by Ryles lets us develop pathway players to suit our style. We have identified 17 pathway players between the ages of 17 to 19, which are critical to our future. Most have been locked up until end of 2027 and some until 2028. Contract approach, is year 1 – Junior rep contract, Year 2 - Train and trial, Year 3 – Development contract Year 4 – Top 30. If a player develops at a faster rate, we can upgrade. LL/Polley locked up lock term
- NRL bench marks shows on average NRL clubs have 5-6% of cap, used on players no longer at the club, playing elsewhere.
- Needs to be plan on how to spend cap, how much on top 5 players, top 17, strategy for managing bottom third of cap.
- Can be aggressive in signing players, but cannot make to many mistakes as creates cap/salary management issues
- We have cap space available, however need to manage that with a young squad where players values will increase. We won’t necessarily have 100% of Drown’s contract available because of this
- Looking at forwards/hooker. May look at internal options for 5/8, however if suitable target becomes available, they will consider. Moses is our marque player and side built around him
- Culture is what will help build us into destination club
I reckon NRL mutual options are more like what others suggest here, but I also think mutual option is the wrong terminology in that case. Dual option probably better.I think peeps have gone and assumed after Josh Hodgson, that all sporting contract MOs include a fall back Call option for the Player at a lower consideration. They don't. *PenisiniHave you ever heard Ponissi speak?
Apparently they are rarely exercised in the NRL. That’s was AI reckons when I asked google.<Sigh> It's just a demonstration how mutual options are used in sport across the world.

Those three options were shit, f**k and merkin.I asked Sarantinos this question a month ago at the Newcastle Members event during my 10 min chat with him and he gave me 3 options they were looking at.
Lane has been facing some challenges with his form in what has been a difficult start to the 2025 season for Parramatta.I reckon NRL mutual options are more like what others suggest here, but I also think mutual option is the wrong terminology in that case. Dual option probably better.
The mutual options you think they are don’t really exist in NRL environment. Simple mutual renewal options don’t really hold any value to either party, whereas the MLB mutual option you referenced are governed by a far more comprehensive salary cap than NRL. You’ll notice in the link you provided that each option is realistically a club option for a value but if they decline, there’s a buyout amount to the player. These buyouts have ramifications to the club salary cap and ability to sign other players, and to the player in their simplicity of signing with other clubs.
It's really not that hard to understand.Apparently they are rarely exercised in the NRL. That’s was AI reckons when I asked google.
<yawn>
Your condescending tone is again full of oestrogen. You remind me of a fat chick that can’t get a f**k.It's really not that hard to understand.
More bullshit. So if his option is to retire can we stop him? It’s only in the affirmative.Lane has been facing some challenges with his form in what has been a difficult start to the 2025 season for Parramatta.
Lane is contracted until at least the end of the 2025 season after signing a three-year extension in October 2022, with a mutual option for 2026, which both parties would need to agree to.

Ok they exist but I think the conditions where they would hold any value for both parties would be extremely limited because ideally for both parties the player value doesn’t remain the sameLane has been facing some challenges with his form in what has been a difficult start to the 2025 season for Parramatta.
