Rumours and Stuff

I justified the signing because he’s a solid player. But whether we get him or not doesn’t say anything about our offer or those of our rivals. Maybe we sign him because we offered $100k more than anyone else. Maybe we offer overs and he chooses to sign with Bulldogs for less. They haven’t won a finals match in nearly a decade ffs. Any player would be inspired by that.
You need to understand that when you have a team with a rabid supporter base like ours that the fans are going to expect quality signings (or at least players they see with a future upside) when the team is struggling. They’re not going to be content with below average or average players being signed because they want to see the team improve. Especially with the number of seasoned big money players we’ve lost since the 2022 grand final. If you try and minimise their concerns or use crappy mental gymnastics to justify average signings then they’re rightfully going to think you’re not arguing in good faith. It’s not rocket surgery.

I am arguing in good faith because I am explaining the reality (signing decisions) that the 'rabid supporter base' fails to comprehend. The logic of what I'm saying is supported by the fact that these decisions are occurring. I get that you want (and therefore expect) that we can just buy our way out of mediocrity, but if it was that simple, every club would be doing it. Stop fixating on the Bulldogs and look at the entire NRL. This is how it works. There aren't enough good players to go around, and there will be even fewer of these when the new teams come in. This is the kind of environment where every half decent player wants a massive pay day, and it's very easy to pay too much and lock in a player long term who won't provide value. We've done this with re-signings after 2022 and now you want us to do it again with new signings.

Blake Mozer has extended at the Broncos for two seasons. Staggs until the end of 2028 and Reynolds next season. Source: Clarky Instagram. There will be a few they can’t afford to keep.
Wouldn't mind Cobbo, for the right price of course, to play centre, a position we are poor in and even our juniors appear weak in. However, Ryles would need to work on his personality to get the best from him.

He would be an upgrade.

But will probably end up at Melbourne....

His family needed him to play for Parra did they?

He must’ve hated the other 15 coaches as well.

Or the other 15 clubs, obviously.

No club wants an Origin player who got caught taking party drugs. That is looked down upon in the NRL.
Maybe JAC could of played AFL, they don't seem to mind drugs.

Does anyone with inside knowledge know if Paulo is playing on next year?

He has been quite good this year, imo.

If he leaves, we need a decent replacement.

This might be crazy (it probably is), but Penisini might be worth a look as an interchange edge forward.

His biggest strength is his strength, and tackle-breaking ability.

His hands let him down, and he isn't lightning quick.

If we insist on retaining him, we may get better value from him in this role.

/Insane idea

And this might be a really unpopular opinion, but I'm really liking the improvement in Kautoga - he's still very raw, but there is potential there.

he’s contracted to the end of 26. The rumours he was thinking of retiring were absolute BS

You don’t have any self awareness bro. I literally told you that people don’t take kindly to having their concerns dismissed and you responded with the rabid supporter base “fails to comprehend” the signing decisions like every decision the club makes is somehow infallible. You’d be a lot more intellectually honest if you assessed each signing decision on its individual merits instead of trying to explain everything away by presupposing that the correct decision was made each time.
Also you’re strawmanning me by claiming I said we can buy our way out of mediocrity. Where did I ever say that? Also I’m not sure what you mean with your spiel about clubs overpaying players. Who said it doesn’t happen? Does that mean teams don’t buy good players at reasonable prices for their rosters anymore?

Excellent post

but I would go so far as to say that he is completely aware of what he is writing - he posts simply to agitate and anger parra supporters. It is his whole reason for being on this site.

And he is aided and abetted by a few posters who white knight him, mainly because his troll agendas align with their own blind loyalty to anything the club does at times. Some of them do it to preserve or defend those at the club they are close to, others do it because they truly believe anything the club does is automatically the right move
