I love the fact that for all our problems we need only look within.

We've finally matured into a family club that produces homegrown produce that only recruits externally to further our growth from within.

I hope so. Our juniors are certainly a damn sight better than they've been at any time since Brian Smith was the combined Head Coach\General Manager\Head of Pathways.

Just a club with the most members in the comp
Small club without any pull, presence or pull
We're nothing at all except pack out our home stadium every home game,
Have severel generations of fans
Every layer loyal true blue and gold
Except for all that,
We're a nothing club

The less we go for the more we retain
The more we look outward the more we realise what we have within.

When we finally understand that channel nine are in cahoots with nrl hq
And we put it on them one Thursday night post state of origin
We demand that our 9 can ride the play the ball like Harry Grant riding rodeo

That day, we will command a blue and gold era of dominance

I'm not the one making the assertion. Your assertion might be right, but you can't prove it.
You’re half getting it. You were making the assertion that young players need to set themselves up financially before aspiring for premierships. If you can’t demonstrate that claim then your claim is as worthless as mine. What I can show is that Galvin chose to take less money to go to a strong club than play at the Tigers. It was widely reported in the media and I see no reason to doubt the claim after everything that transpired.

Interesting observation in the Telegraph today in regards to an article about Iongi.

Focus was a bit on Penrith how they got him but also mentioned how we signed him as well.

Going off the article MON wasn't mentioned once and it was all down to Ben Rogers spotting him.

And then Jason Ryles who met him, his mum and manager at Brighton Le Sands Cafe to sell his vision to convince him to come here.

This was backend of last year while Barrett was coaching so Ryles had time on his side and was his first signing a few weeks after signing on as coach as Blaize said he was leaving.

Clearly it was a positive move MON was kept out of negotiations and a deal got done quickly.

No I was giving my opinion on what they should do. That’s not an assertion of fact. Anything could happen with any given player, but we wouldn’t know.

Then you asserted the fact that Gould had talked Galvin into choosing less money to go to a club that hasn’t won a finals match in nearly ten years.
If you can’t demonstrate that claim then your claim is as worthless as mine. What I can show is that Galvin chose to take less money to go to a strong club than play at the Tigers. It was widely reported in the media and I see no reason to doubt the claim after everything that transpired.
It was also ‘widely reported in the media’, that the Bulldogs weren’t interested. Rugby league media is intended to influence and entertain. It is not intended to inform.

At most clubs the GM isn’t the face of the club, instead it’s the head coach. That’s why most fans think coaches sign players (and do everything else).

Signing and identifying young talents, is beneath Mon.

Noooooooo you have it all wrong, Mon is used for the big fish.! The real talent like: Davey, Harper (apparently Mon dived in front of the plane to stop it taking off to sign that future immortal), Lussick ( this was a strategic stealth like mission to the UK to sign one of the their biggest talents), Tago etc etc etc

Mon is the Ferrari of Recruiters. Just Look at how he acquired Galvin for the Dogs. With his rare talents and persuasive power and superior intellect, he practically drove him to belmore and helped him sign the contract for the dogs. When the pen Galvin was using (to sign the the Bulldogs contract) ran out of ink, Mon was there to save the day and source a new pen so Galvin signed the contract.

I try to not make the Eels my identify. Celebrate the wins. Move on from the losses by prioritising important things in my life. I accept that my anger is not going to achieve anything. I do have fun posting on here.

Mods and owners may not like this but the best thing you can do as a fan is turn off social media, don't listen to the podcasts, stay away from the news every day. Just look up team lists and watch the game

Mate you are actually right. I’ve had a pretty awful slip in my own mental health journey this last 2 weeks and I’ve got an idea what has brought it on but you are definitely right about limiting your consumption.

Ive switched off social media, news, opinion pieces etc and the only thing I have had for 2 weeks is here. Essentially because I feel very comfortable here but still have a level of anonymity and no judgement if you are not feeling great.

Tbh I started obsessing over the Galvin stuff and it got me so negative.

Word to the wise, a break can really help. A lot of bad news atm.
