Now whilst I agree somewhat that it’s easier to keep them then to sign externally, these best young talents are years away, it’s likely they’ve got at least one other contract to sign before they enter NRL. Even when they enter NRL, they’ll likely still be at least 1-2 years from being a good player.
Also we’ve already got a few in system, Fletcher, Ralagi, Coinakis, JFI, Tuivati, Papalii, Smith are all Australian Schoolboys and Ryles has already commented on our need to develop these players.

Tuivati looks the goods
Kuatgo looks like he can be average
Guymer looks like he tackle machine with zero ability to run ball

Tuivati if he improves his weaknesses has a real opportunity.
Kautoga - average is fine. People got excited when we were linked to Luke Garner FFS.
Guymer I think will be a decent squad member outside top 20 or so. A fine enough player if we have 2 quality, high minute backrowers and one of them is injured and you need Guymer to come in and play high minute, low risk. Alternatively he needs to hit the squat rack hard

With some of the talk about fringe first graders in their early 20s and whether they will really cut it making the consistent step up to first grade, I think we’re now seeing (hopefully the backend of) the effects of the COVID disruption and how it has hampered development. Some of these guys would’ve been playing reserves in 2020-21 and would have developed significantly at that time, but for the reserves comps being so disrupted for those years. It’s set the quality of fringe top graders backwards by a bit.

We don't have someone like that at all coming through in CUP or Flegg you need to go all the way to Matt's to find a player like that in Polley, let's hope the club doesn't get him fat and turn him into a plodding middle..

Duncan played reserve grade at 20. JFI is already playing there at 19 and has been very good in a small sample of two games, in limited minutes. His first start is this weekend and it’s very exciting.

But all the clowns in the media who bagged Ryles and the Club at the start of the year for the ruthless call have all gone quiet.

Peter Fitzsimons, Paul Crawley, Dean Ritchie, Phil Rothfield are definitely ones who criticised the decision.

I recall Brent Read at the time said it was the right call and History will show Ryles first main call was the right one.

You defame Eels players regularly simply because they are not very good athletes which is very diferent to politicians and religions that are responsible for death and destruction, yet some of the players you defame bust thier guts for us. Interestingly it's what Ryles wanted to do, but couldn't offer Gutho a new deal until he saw how he went. I reckon he wouId have been pretty good there. Think he could have played 60-80 mins there, which is probably Walkers biggest issue, he can't.

fair points on Gutho, but given he signed a reported $2.5m deal for 3 years and we got Dylan Walker for much less, I think we came out on top with Walker. He also has better leg speed in my opinion, and experience in the role he is playing.

The defence to defamation is truth — keep that in mind. If I believe Guymer is shit and if he actually is, that’s not defamation. Every supporter has opinions about their own players, why should it be excluded here and frowned upon especially seeing we are in a 40 year drought? If you want to be in lala land about our club you are entitled to it but here I’m not going to sugar coat it.

And seriously, you need to lighten up and stop taking everything so literally. I’ve never once said I hated Brad Arthur or his kids. I’ve just said they are entitled and part of an nepo clan whilst one other member called the younger one a turd which I happen to agree with.

I had an interaction with Matt Arthur 5 years ago at the trade centre I was working at.

Brad came in to ask about the best way to have his house repainted, products to use, good painters to recommend, best way to render his fascia, etc.

Brad was polite, but had a cranky look on his face - I think he just has "resting bitch face".

He was walking around the trade centre, picking tins off the shelf, reading the backs, putting them back wherever he pleased, taking colour swatches, and then just dropping them on the floor, talking to me from across the room - while I was having a technical conversation with his dad...

Jakob was also there, and was a perfect gentleman - he politely asked me questions regarding how to apply certain products, recoat times etc.

It's why I wish Jake well - great kid.
