Nothing beats have a merry christmas finding out you got outbidded by the useless Dragons.

I actually agree with @Soto we have a shitload of gun potential forwards coming through the juniors.

With SFA outside backs.

Tuivati, Ryda Talagi, Koina are just 3 with massive raps and potential.

Anyway i said for weeks i never thought Keaon would come here. It just didnt make a lot sense.

But i suppose you can actually laugh at Souths how they have allowed this happen by pandering to a 12 game a year Latrell Mitchell, injury prone f.wit in Cody Walker and then paying Jack Wighton 800k as a centre.

Like honestly i see them as a bigger joke atm then us and Bennett is struggling to turn them around now lost there best forward in a side with piss weak forwards already.

Imagine running a buisness like that. I train my workers and by the time I get them to a decent consistent level they leave.

Now we can spend big on a game changing centre or winger. KK may have been good for us but it wasn't till 27 anyway. Should be pumping resources into developing our young middles. I see a lot of potential in big Sam T who needs more FG game time. Ryda looks a prospect and will get plenty of open age footy in him next season. Teancum turned up to preseason fit and ready to rock. I noticed Damascus Neemia is still with us who I think is a bit of a roughie that Im not writing off yet.

I can live with Keon staying at the rabbits - it’s expected.

if he chooses the dragons over us however, it is a massive failure by O’Neill (and Ryles) to be unable to persuade a elite player of the benefits of our club and its direction over an absolute rabble like the dragons who don’t even have a halfback to steer a team around, nor a fullback with legs left in him. If a rep player see’s chance of better success at the dragons over us, then we have absolute f**kwitts in charge of recruitment who should be on their ass by Boxing Day.
Money talks. If he wanted to win premierships he would've gone to a different club.

It depends how much he’s getting paid. He might’ve sold himself short in exchange for job security. Unlikely, but also unlikely they’ve paid too much over a contract that long.

Why would you reserve them for rep players? Russell is NRL standard at 23. It’s not a gamble to assume he’ll still be NRL standard at 28.

I think it’s a massive gamble… 12 months is a long time in Rugby League.

Look at Haze Dunster. Very similar position in their careers (I believe Haze was even younger) got one injury which ruined him and he was stuck on our books for three years contributing nothing. Run of the mill players don’t get 5 year deals.

They leave for more money though. If you really wanted to keep them, you'd pay them what they're worth after they've improved that much.

Stars can also suffer career ending injuries, and they would be on a lot more than Haze Dunster when he f**ked his knee.

Who said they're common?
Actually, they aren't particularly rare. The following Sean Russell-level nuffies are on five year contracts:

Hayes
Bullemor
Paseka
Neame
Luki
Da Silva
Stewart
Gray
Laban

The best of them are solid first graders, and some have potential, but none are Origin class. If they've played rep footy it's for Mickey Mouse teams like the Kiwis or the PM's XIII.

Mate, I would ordinarily agree - but if the reported figure is correct, good luck to the Dragons.

He's a very good player, but he is not worth $1 million a season, imo.

then what is he worth?

Is he in the top 5-6 forwards in the game ?

if he is, then he’s joining a crew of players who are paid over $1m in Haas, Tino, AFB or between $900k and $1 in JFH, Paulo, Tapine, Murray, Taumalolo and Flegler.

jurbo is on over $1m and isn’t in the top 10 forwards

You’d have to say he is an upgrade on at least a few of that list, so in a buyers market how do you value him under $1m?

Honestly champ, give it a f**king rest.
You seriously must almost fall asleep typing the same thing three times daily.
Lighten up mate. Just joking. It’s the off season relax. Maybe go talk about some of your building and construction talk on the other thread or something. I mean that’s boring as bat shit but do I tell you to stop? Reeelllaaaxxxx lol
