He might have grown the game.

But he's also responsible for diluting the quality of the sport with all his ridiculous, constant rule changes.

He's also a liar, and a bully.

I don't believe that because his predecessor was horrible, it makes him halfway competent.

I find him insipid, inept, and uninspiring.

I haven't yet read the next 4 pages after this post.
But I completely disagree with your summation.

NRL is absolutely pumping at the moment.
Record crowds, record tv viewing. Absolutely smashing it on all levels.
That's all to do with PVL's rule changes and how the game is as fast and entertaining as it has ever been.

100% agree Suity. He’s the first person that anyone from the AFL has taken seriously.

My experience down here is that they don’t take him lightly at all. They are concerned about the inroads that the NRL continues to make with TV viewership.

I love the Vegas concept as well. That’s been a massive success.

I don’t know if it’s the same in Sydney but my experience in Melbourne is that AFL isn’t a prominent thing that gets discussed. I thought I might have to fake support a team but with a full season under my belt I don’t think that is necessary.

Maybe it’s a big city thing as I’m sure there are lots of people in Sydney that couldn’t give a f**k about the NRL.

What I’ve experienced with league in Northern NSW, Brisbane, Cairns, Newcastle and Canberra (all of the places I have lived in since Sydney as a child) is that it is adored and supported in ways that I haven’t seen with the AFL.

When it was Origin day in I would see so many people come to work in Brisbane with their jersey on.

Not an AFL expert but there have been some disturbingly low scoring contests in recent years. Has their product gone further down the shitter?

I was invited to a game at the MCG last year. I tried hard to be gracious and positive but it was as boring as f**k.

Well done to the Eels on this. I’m glad they have taken this action, and love how they explained how they tried to come to an agreement through mediation and conversations with Melbourne. Perfect way to handle this situation.

That Zac has basically just said “Well, I think that contract means nothing” shows that he is either a complete idiot or has the absolute worst advice he could get.

How he asked for a release from his Eels contract without having a new contract from R360 ready to sign is beyond belief. It was never a certainty to get up and running this year and his managers should have known that. At least get guarantees in writing from R360 saying if it is postponed that Zac will be compensated. This shit is basic management, ffs!

People around me dont care about footy as much as other areas. But even in those other areas atleast half of the people or more wouldnt watch rugby leage. My guess would be 25-30% Max

That’s fair. Probably a big city thing then.

Support for NRL in Brisbane is amazing but my experience is places like Cairns and Newcastle is that it was a more regular part of discussions with people. Much greater percentage of hardcore fans.
