Abold plan to introduce a rookie draft to equalise talent as the competition expands will soon be delivered to the NRL and its clubs.

A Pathways Steering Committee (PSC) is finalising a list of recommendations relating to the flow of junior talent into the elite level. They include the introduction of a national under-21s competition, regulations relating to when youngsters can engage an agent, and an accreditation scheme for junior coaches.

However, the topic that will spark most interest is the prospect of implementing a rookie draft, which would signal a radical change in the way promising prospects graduate to the NRL. While the AFL has had a draft for top talent since 1986, attempts to introduce the system to rugby league were short-lived.

I'm not a fan, it would give clubs no real incentive to develop your own.
But a draft in the NRL would be great imo.

Wests Tigers are offering Jayden Sullivan 900k to take his contract elsewhere.
If this is true then he's gonesky as his manager will see to it that this will happen.
My call is he'll head back to the Dragons to replace Hunt.
So Sullivan leaves us
and May replaces him, that's 180k a year turn around.
I'm relinquishing my nickname and giving it to the Tigers.

True, but there’s nothing coming out in the news about him, except that it is a salary cap issue, looking at a 7 or a 1?
Richo would probably know, but:
Is it that bad?
Has he put the club or himself in a bad light?
Is he a good footballer?
Do we want him?
Can we afford him?
I would think every sports journo in NSW would be on this case, if there’s a story, it would be shortly?
At least we are mentioned as being interested.

Addo-Carr has taken a labouring job at a Sydney building site with good mate and landscaper Garth Wood to “provide for his family” as he awaits another NRL opportunity.
---------------
Seriously, how much would he have earned? To take up a job to support his family, is BS surely.

Some of these players get away with it Tm....meaning that their reputation will see them get another gig. Until the NRL, Clubs, RLPA and the international RL take a firmer unbreakable stance against drugs and violence off the field then they will keep doing it..
Some of these top guilty players would have known that they'd be snapped up again, but what happens when these marquee players are deregistered and painting fences for 4 years because they have no qualifications and no savings because they pissed whatever savings up against the wall before their day of shame.
Educate the young fellas and stick by the rules.

My point was, he shouldn't need to get a laboring job a few days after being sacked to support his family, unless of course he put it all up his nose?
If he had said he wanted to stay in shape, I could understand.
I haven' really followed it, but I think he got punted for lying to the club, more so than taking drugs.
Not sure what the NRL have said about it all?
He doesn't, shit like that is said to make him appear more sympathetic. Also it's to sell him to fans and sponsors of a new club. Had he not put out something like that he comes across as a bloke who is sitting around doing nothing. Now he is a bloke who has learnt his lesson and wont f**k up again.

Terrell May pursues legal action against trolls over Roosters rumours

Outgoing Roosters prop Terrell May has issued a series of cease and desist notices against online fan groups for spreading rumours about him and his family as he weighs up his future.

May was informed last week that he is free to leave the Roosters immediately despite only signing a $950,000 contract extension in April, fuelling speculation about an off-field incident triggering the club’s move.

As reported by this masthead, multiple Roosters sources speaking on the condition of anonymity due to the sensitive nature of the matter have stressed that there is no major off-field issue with the rising front-rower.

Rugby league’s rumour mill nonetheless went into overdrive, with multiple websites publishing what May’s manager described as “false and damaging” rumours about the 25-year-old and his family.

May’s manager, David Rawlings of Foundation Sports Group, confirmed three cease and desist notices have been issued to social media accounts, with further legal action being weighed up against one Facebook group this week.

“The NRL’s taken a stance over the past few years in calling out player abuse, guys like Latrell Mitchell have taken really strong stances, Jarome Luai too and there’s just no reason to tolerate any abuse,” Rawlings said.

“We’ve sent cease and desist notices out to certain Facebook groups because the personal impact of some of the defamatory commentary, it’s just not on.

“Where there’s appropriate legal recourse, we will hold people to account because how else does the message get through?”

May was rattled by the Roosters call that he was free to leave last week and declined to comment on his future after playing for Samoa against England on Saturday.

He returns to Sydney later this week and will begin to explore interest already registered by rival clubs, with the likes of Wests Tigers, Dragons and Canterbury in the market for front-rowers.

This masthead reported last week that there are figures at the Roosters that held reservations around whether May was the right cultural fit for the club.

Sources have indicated that coach Trent Robinson has no issue with May on or off the field, with salary cap management and realigning a roster packed with quality forwards driving May’s exit.

Roosters teammate Angus Crichton spoke on Friday in defence of May, having been made aware of the rumours swirling around the club’s decision.

“He is literally straight as an arrow,” Crichton said. “He doesn’t drink, he is a really good guy and he hasn’t done anything off the field to warrant this.

“So for people that are speculating and talking out of tongue, just stop it, and wait until the full story comes to light. He is a good person.”

It's hard to know what to believe but the whole thing seems suss.
Yep.

But I think we remain in a bit of a crisis mode until we secure at least a factory pack.

This inevitably means we have to take some risks and pull out the dusty wallet.

Sell the dream of achieving 9th within 5 years.

It’s time for Richo to start up his spin machine at full bore.

I want to see him in full training with some preseason fibbing and bullshitting at potential new recruits.

Tell them and their managers anything and change the story when they’ve moved to Oran Park and it’s all too late.

We’ve tried all this honourable club stuff and we cant stand upright anymore.

We need some genuine bastard in us over the off season.

Personally I want to see the team perform with the current pack. I think there is enough talent there. I also expect Sione Fainu to be signed.

I think this season comes down to the coaching staff getting the team performing. I think it's all on them and they have enough to work with.
