It's not so simple. I think if he plays 14 games or something he gets another year. I'm not sure we should be playing him for 14 games.
He's capable of playing good footy and if he performs then everything is ok. He looks like he's putting in at preseason training.
The real issue is, can his aging body do it all again next year?

As u know Nutz putting in at training is irrelevant. This under delivering has been’s output when it matters on game day has been atrocious. We can’t justify retaining the impostor on the huge overs he’s on beyond ‘25.I don’t wish ill on him but won’t b upset if he gets an injury that prevents him from playing >13 games this season.

I meant putting in at training is irrelevant if its not matched by ur on field effort

We should have made him Captain :)
For those who have played the game it gets harder and intense the higher the grade. NRL players do it pretty tough and I just have doubts whether he may pack it in rather than go thru another preseason.
Just on another angle....why do we persevere with players that won't ever play first grade, players like Tumeth imo won't. Money I guess.
Then there's Bateman and AD....what a shambles.
Tim Johannssen didn't make the top 30 but instead is on a Train and Trial (is that right).
I thought he'd be better than Tumeth who has been around long enough and hasn't broken thru.
Justin Matamua seems quiet. He's was a captain and a gun in pathways and he hasn't done much since his debut. What's the go with him. Is he being managed by the club properly?
We are started to weed out our top 30 of players who are simply reserve graders. Until they are all gone I won't be happy. Ha ha :)

Nutz, these sort of players are about balancing the cap.
You have to have some cheapies in your team to be able to pay good money for players like Luia.
30 players into the cap is hard to balance.

I think I read somewhere that historically, the teams that make the finals use the fewest players over the season.
So they are leaning more on their top say 20 players than the next 10 down.

Agree with you though that Johannseon would be more useful to us than Tumeth, BUT if he stayed on for a T&T then we can use him anyway.

We also have one more spot left I think which we dont need to fill until after the season starts.

You have to give them a break, they turned over about half of the FG team in one off season. You cant do the entire team.

Any I echo concerns about coaching from here. On paper, thats top half of the comp roster now. Anything lower than 10th is a major failure and I think raises questions about Benji.

I think the acid is already on Benji, he mentioned it at the end of last season.

Reflecting on his appointment, we should bear in mind that he’s there at the behest of the board. He can’t appoint himself.

I think his style, quirks, leadership model and other attributes didn’t pay off last year. By continually referring to himself as a rookie coach, he created a rod for his own back.

He’s pretty much functionally illiterate which is probably neither here nor there but doesn’t help.

His idolisation of Tim Sheens hasn’t served him well.

And his 9-5 policy and extend mid season holiday abroad when we were being plastered all over the shop showed his lack of insight and understanding of fans and members expectations.

Perceptions are important, especially when things aren’t going well.

I will leave it to @sensesmaybenumbed and our other game scholars to highlight his:

(a) selection errors
(b) laughable game tactics
(C) inability to improve players game, but for a few.
(d) Appalling discipline
(e) lack of team morale
(f) woeful fitness
(G) much more.

And the harm he caused to the club over the spoonbowl debacle. His pretence that we would play to win. Admitted later he had no real game plan. Bad game, dumb admission.

I really hope hes pulled all the new players into a meeting to discuss continuing standards and to find our what defensive structures they used.

Its interesting, on the face of it, defense is our issue, but we struggled to score points last year as well, which is very unlike WT

Following reports that the Wests Tigers were "working closely" to extend his tenure, teenage sensation Lachlan Galvin has provided a clear update on his future as he enters the second season of his NRL career.

One of the best rookies in the NRL, Galvin was one of the standouts and highlights for the Wests Tigers in another miserable season that saw them claim their third consecutive wooden spoon.
In only 21 first-grade matches, Galvin showed that he is a future star of the competition and has already earned praise from former NRL icons turned media pundits Andrew Johns and Phil Gould.
During these outings, he scored four tries, forced nine drop-outs, provided 16 try assists and nine line-break assists and averaged 130 running metres per match.

Following comments from CEO Shane Richardson in November that the Tigers and Galvin's management were "working closely" to extend his contract, the teenage sensation has provided a clear update on his future.
"I'm really staying out of that at the moment. My manager is dealing with that," Galvin told Zero Tackle.
"I haven't really heard much about it. Nothing's really happened at the moment so I'm just going to let this year play out and whatever happens, happens.
"I don't really want to get into talks at the moment. I just want to play my best."

Contracted for the next two seasons, Galvin will be able to speak with rival teams from November 1 and will likely attract a ton of interest on the open market if he doesn't extend before then.
Set to earn $600,000 over the next couple of years, the 19-year-old is likely to receive a significant pay rise in his next deal.
Capping off his stellar first season in the NRL, the 2023 Australian Schoolboys captain was selected to represent the Prime Minister's XIII alongside teammate Alex Seyfarth.

Unfortunately, despite being the favourite, he could not claim the 2024 Dally M Rookie of the Year honours as he was suspended for three matches at the beginning of the season for a hip-drop tackle against his former team.
"Putting it (the jersey) on every week, playing in the NRL every week is amazing," the boom five-eighth added.
"I just want to go out there this year and prove myself again and keep killing it."

Does this guy sound extremely similar to Turdesco to anyone else ?

Moses is his manager.

I hope the club is focusing on Latu as well.

I’m expecting Galvo to leave tbh.

He’s barely played first grade and distancing himself from club commitment…says it all.

No sweat, he’s either on-board for a reasonable price or we send him packing.

A glamour club will pick him up.

But we’ve got Luai.

And don’t forget we nailed 6 of the 8 players we wanted to recruit over the off season.

The only reason we didn’t nail the extra two is because their coaches intervened.

These guys wanted to come and join us.

So I appreciate its foreign territory for us and nobody thought we’d see it ever see again in our lifetimes but;

there is a bit of “Destination Tigers” slithering and sliming it’s way into our club.

The Wests Tigers may have lost a couple of experienced back-rowers, but Alex Seyfarth says he’s ready to fill the void on the right edge as part of a new-look forward pack that has talent everywhere you look.
With John Bateman (Cowboys) and Isaiah Papali’i (Panthers) no longer at the club, Seyfarth is the leading candidate to start on the right alongside young gun Lachlan Galvin in 2025.
Reigning Tigers player of the year Samuela Fainu will start on the left after his breakout season, with Seyfarth tipped to partner him in the back row after impressing at the back end of the 2024 campaign.

The 26-year-old has mainly come off the bench and has started just 10 NRL games in the back row, but that number will grow significantly in 2025.
“I try not to think about it too much until the season starts,” he said.
“I’m trying to focus on my pre-season, but if the opportunity does come (I’ll be ready). I’ve been trying to work pretty closely with Lachie this year to build a good combination on that right edge in the pre-season.”
Both men are confident that they’ve got enough time to forge a potent combination on the edge, with Seyfarth showing last year how damaging he can be as a hole runner with a slashing try against the Sea Eagles.
Hole running was a big part of the Wests Tigers’ attack when Benji Marshall was running around in the halves, and it could make a return this year with former Tigers fullback Brett Hodgson joining the coaching staff.

“It’s a little part of my game which I enjoy,” Seyfarth said.
“I think in the juniors and SG Ball, I played a bit more in the back row before I transitioned into the middle, so it’s something I know quite well.
“Brett Hodgson has come in this year as one of the assistant coaches and he’s really hyped on playing through the middle and hitting leads (lead runners) a lot.
“I think that will suit my game.”
The Tigers are coming off three-straight wooden spoons, but Marshall has assembled a forward pack that will make them much more competitive this year with the likes of Royce Hunt and Terrell May to bring plenty of aggression in the middle.

“I love that. I get a lot of confidence from these guys because they’re all world-class players. I only have to worry about doing my job, and they’ll take care of the rest,” said Seyfarth, who took it upon himself to stand up to rival players last year.
“We’ve got a good balance throughout our pack. We’ve got Samuela on the edge, Terrell in the middle, Royce is a big, strong, powerful front-rower who has got a good late offload and brings good impact.
“And then you mix that with Fonua Pole, who is a big fella but can go all day. I think we’ve got a lot of punch in the middle, and then we’ve got Api Koroisau at hooker who is so creative and can get the boys on the front foot.”

Alarum:

OMG…JL may have broken his ‘ken leg.

KCUF you Benji and the loser mateys in our coaching ranks.

NFI you brain dead morons. $1.2m and the hopes and dreams of thousands of people up in smoke so Benji and his coaching mateys can look tough and cool.

I was adamant about keeping him in mothballs until it meant something.

Now this.

The Army were meant to be overseeing it, well these Army guys are specifically trained for this heavy duty stuff.

NRL players are not trained soldiers, they don’t have to be combat ready.

Well it’s nothing short of a disgrace Alice.

And that’s why it’s obvious the club is playing it down, nothing to see here-rubbish.

You only get scans when there is something quite wrong. Nobody rushes off and gets scans for some residual soreness.

And we know JL, he’d rather play with two broken legs than give himself up.

I bet no-one in our esteemed coaching staff got injured, too busy watching re-runs of the the 2005 finals series.

I’m beyond furious.

Words can’t describe the contempt I have towards our incompetent coaching staff. They put players in harms way.
Dickheads.

Anyway, I hope you’re on the mend.

I’m happy to donate my knee to JL if he needs one.

And ffs I’m happy to give Benji a lobotomy to make him smarter.
