Shaun Johnson officially released and Widdop has for a release. Brook's asking price is going up like a two bedroom terrace in Balmain during the boom.

I would say Shaun already has a new home in the shire, you would not ask for a release without having something stitched up.

I think we should be a little nervous to Brooks puts pen to paper
Isaac the merkin Moses has a permanent grin like a Cheshire Cat.A halfback with some potential or proven ability currently coming off contract would b akin to winning powerball especially if managed by the cunning prick Isaac.

We r definitely going to have to pay through the nose to retain brooks & it’s a concern coz there’s always the likelihood that once he puts pen to paper that his form will return to pre’18 form.

Geez we r thin on quality in the 3/4’s.We actually need a few Walker - like signings.

Madge will definitely strengthen the 3/4’s & any other vulnerable aspects of our squad but it won’t happen overnite.

With the events so far this offseason, every player in the comp is available, a contract is something to give a player security for the length of the contract, but it certainly is not the same for the club that gave the contract.
Although Iam really worried about the overall strength of our roster especially the backline and lack of a goal kicker, and it will not be a quick fix, with Cleary handing out long contracts to ageing players. In years gone by ESL would have been our saviour, they would have taken all our pensioners but money is tight over there now, plus the tax benefits have been closed off.

Getting harder and harder to be patient, while other clubs are building good rosters

Our saving grace re the lunacy & repercussions of long contracts to Reynolds & Packer etc is that Madge won’t tolerate mediocrity & wont hesitate to find a solution regardless of the financial hit.

So our outside backs include:
Thompson
Nofa
Marsters
Fonua
Momo

We need a Walker-like signing asap

Ivan erred greatly in never replacing Milne or Suli when we lost them last year. As you mention we have 5 outside backs in our whole squad.

Apparently they are training Dylan Smith there but the guy is tiny and has only ever played fullback. Next in line would probably be Sam McIntyre but he’s more a backrower.

It’s been a very poorly assembled squad imo

Marsters was also more of a backrower and has come on well.

But I have never seen McIntyre play so don't know if he could do a similar transition.

To be fair Tui, Milne and Suli all f**king the pooch last year didn't help.

Absolutely however we’ve had those 3, Kev and MWZ all leave in the past 12 months. We’ve replaced them with Mbye and Momirovski. It’s lunacy. If we get 2 injuries in the backs next year we’re cooked.

Back to the end of 2014 with Patterson on one wing and Akauola on the other.

I don't like this at all. All I want to read is that Brooks has singed a 3 year extension. If this becomes a bidding war and goes on for ages the club has to let him go.

Same article said roosters powerbrokers have gone cold on Brooks as Cronks successor.

What about the Warriors and Dragons that have had vacancies open up this week?

They should have put this offer to him about a month ago....

Price is only going north now, however I still think he will stay at the Tigers...
