TIGERS TIPPED FOR OFF-SEASON SHAKE-UP IN BID TO LAND BIG NAME
The Tigers may look to offload Luke Brooks in the off-season in a bid to produce some money to spend in their salary cap.
The Australian’s Brent Read Rreported on Triple M that Moses Mbye is set to join the Dragons, but the Tigers will still have to pay a lot of his salary and the club wants to sign a big name desperately after missing out on Tevita Pangai Jr among other stars this season.
“The Tigers have got some money to spend and they have had a lash at a few players now and missed them,” Read said on
Triple M.
“They need some sort of kill.
“Jackson Hastings can also play the utility role, depending on what happens with Luke Brooks at the end of the year.
“That is the big if what happens with Luke Brooks. I think at the end of the year they are going to have to make a decision about Luke Brooks on whether they keep him or let him go.
“Brooks has some value in the market place. You wouldn’t have to pay a lot of his wage, which is what they are going to have to do with Moses Mbye.
“He is going to the Dragons next year on around $450,000 and that leaves $400,000 left over that the Tigers are going to have to carry in their salary cap.
“You wouldn’t have that problem with Luke Brooks and it just feels like it is not working there.
“In the off-season I expect some change at the Wests Tigers. We see that already with Moses Mbye and Russell Packer will leave.
“They are the last of those big contracts that Madge inherited. They are the last two guys of that era.”
