Ok I didn't think about that! I guess provides some fuel for Hunts management to agitate for a release again however I wouldn't think a poor performance appraisal would improve his market value?
Maybe there is a club that has already spoken to Hunt's management, told him to agitate and then they would swoop. Has Gus or Uncle Nick used this tactic before? Hmmm.

This is the guy Saints should have chased immediately to replace Webb.

Anyone got and rumour on Webb's replacement? Or are they going to start interviewing candidates in March just before Webb leaves? Wait till the last minute.
Probably after spending tens of thousands in advertising and recruitment fees they will give the job to Peter Doust FFS

I would love to see Mark Coyne get Ryan Webbs job.
Coyne, loves the Maroons but his heart will always be with the Dragons. He has been with -

He was an ARL Commissioner until he was in trouble following an incident in Singapore so he had to quit the job as an ARL Commissioner -

In my opinion he would be able to do Webb's job plus he has the footy knowledge running through his Dragons veins.

The Dragons are looking at Peter Parr from the Knights.

I’d hate Coyne to be our CEO as we’d all turn on him. Best to stay a beloved ex player.

But just think if he did a great job as the Club's CEO. You will love him even more! So would most of us. But I understand that if he didn't do a good job, this would tarnish his Dragons playing days image.
The problem remains that the same dinosaurs are on the Board, no CEO will survive as long as the board remains as it is totally dysfunctional.

We still are yet to sign anymore players for next season i highly doubt they are prioritising a new CEO at this point feels as though everything has shut shop excluding the membership team trying to get people to sign up for next season.

Dragons Board are culpable in the mess that has now descended on this team! ,Doust As CEO (who by the way remains on the Board) had Wayne Bennet fall into his lap in 2009,instead of giving Wayne 5 years like he wanted Doust played the tough negotiator and only signed him for 3.The board then appointed an untested coach in Price and after a couple of mediocre performances gave him an extension only for the results to turn to shiite then they appointed another untried coach in McGregor who they persisted with for what was it 8 years of poor performances!!? only to give him an extended contract which again prompted more crap results so, Mc Gregor sacked and in comes Griffin.
You could not put money on it however after 18 months of ordinary below par performances they again extended a coaches contract, and guess what more garbage performances and the Coach again paid out and sacked.
In the 14 years since the 2010 premiership it has been a disaster, if only there were savvy directors on the board dragons may have still been coached by Bennet in his 17th year with what may have provided results like Bellamy, Robinson, Cleary, sigh!!
Sorry rant over

With the people we have had running the St George Illawarra Dragons for nearly those 14 years Harry, coaches like Bellamy, Robinson, Cleary, would not have had the success that they have had. The Board would have turned them off even though they would have got us a premiership from all three like Bennett. The long term coaching that those three have had and will continue to have and with success is due to their respective clubs having superior personnel at the top who know how a leagues club should function. I don't think that they would last more than 3-5 years with us. Mary McGregor has been our longest serving first grade coach for the joint venture club of 7 years straight.

Now that we have Flanno, his aim of course is to get the club to making top 4 a couple of times and maybe with an ounce of luck a grand final in say 2-4 years. But his tenure won't be a very long term one, unless the success is regular and he gets a lot of things go his way and the Board lets him run his own race and then he could end up being a Bellamy, Robinson coach. Bennett's longest stint has been with the Broncos from 1988-2008 - 21 years straight plus he had another 4 years at the Broncos from 2015-2018.

If Flanno can get great results year to year it will enable much better players to be attracted to want to play for the club every year and that's what I would like to see.

Getting back to Ryan Webb's replacement, the type of guy we need should not be a yes man, has a finance background, a very good knowledge of footy matters - even to the extent of the types that we need - and is in the foreground to discuss openly with members and fans about our club and provide up to date information on topical matters and future aims and endeavours. The Board have put out feelers for guys like Peter Parr - Knights Head of Football, Norm Black - former owner of Trip-A -Deal, Blake Solly - South Sydney CEO, Tim Watsford - Supercars COO, Brock Schaefer - previous NRL GM of partnerships Jaymes Boland-Rudder and ex Souths COO.

So the Board will be trying to get someone with good qualifications by the looks of things which I hope will eventuate on a selection of a strong character CEO for us.

Agree 100% a proper efficient Board and organizational structure would let an experienced coach like Flanagan thrive however with this mob I have serious doubts, Flanagan seems to be doing everything himself, no CEO, no savvy hooked in recruitment team and no Board that sets the structure and let the football department to take over.
The board should have no say in who the players are they should set the structure and trust the people they have empowered. This garbage that got reported the other day that the Board was baulking at signing Josh Addo Carr is ridiculous!!, you don't see this sort of amateurish situations at the Storm, Roosters and Penrith, if their coaches sign off on a player recruitment then that is it.
I don't know how to purge this lot of no hopers, the only chance is for both St George Leagues and Win sell their ownership to a proper well run sporting franchise, both sides of the board have proven themselves useless.
