Oh dear poor tugger.

This should be great! I wonder whether Tigger will now be a Wests Tigers supporter.

At the irony of a prosperous Ryde Eastwood club looking down upon an increasingly nervous Magpie ............

So what are you saying Ryde Eastwood want to do? I can't work out what you're on about? I mean what the Hawks are going to do in the future btw re: magpies, I understand the premier league thing.

Balmain will now provide them with a lot of new players.

Your right Ryde-Eastwood have more money than Wests could throw a stick at, it will be very interesting times ahead for not just Balmain but the JV as a whole ;-)

Wow, this is certainly a big development for Balmain and i guess only time will tell how this effects the JV. I'll be honest though, its sucks that Balmain's been tinkered with yet again but it seems the smart way to go, especially with the pokie tax so close.

If Wests werent willing to accept a PL merger then as dissapointing as that is (because i would prefer a wests tigers pl side) then Ryde-Eastwood is the next best thing. If this move can gaurantee our financial future then i guess its a good move for now.

Are things that grim?

Things arn't great but things arn't as grim as this would make them out to be thats for sure!

Imagine if we had gone alone instead of the merger. We would have folded in less than three years by the sound of it.

No we wouldn't have!!!!

As it is, the mighty Balmain Tigers appear to be heading the way of their wild cousins.

Mate I have this funny feeling that because of Wests not approving a 50/50 PL merge and that they have said to various people that they do plan such and such by certain date that Balmain have already elected that the JV might soon become a sign of the past for them - Ryde Eastwood on the other hand have a different opinion and well Wests better look out because they do have a heap more in the bank than what they do ;-)

Looks can be deceiving champ ;-)

Thanks for the heartening news. At 43, I'm too old to start going for another team. ;-) 8)

That is right, Ryde has a lot less debt from my understanding  The NAB still own more than 60% of your club

And as you would no doubt know being the business genius you are debt don't mean shit. Cash is King and the Ashfield debt simply financed a massive boost in the club's cash flow to more than compensate for any costs involved. You'd give your left AND right nuts if Balmain leagues could swap their levels of debt and cash flow for Ashfields. 8)

IMO it has something to do with not selling out any furthur (*cough*) and long term aspirations. Oh and the clubs policy to maximise the development of junior players.

Mate, that would be true if all things were equal, however as you are aware, the new pokies tax will dramatically effect all Leagues Clubs, those with large debts are still going to have to pay for them with less Gross Profit than previously.

but youve got to remember yappy ashfields full if asians & asians love to gamble

also itd be great if balmain werent broke but things are starting to go alright the club could even make a tiny profit this year which would be excellent the strength of the tigers club depends on results on the field & last saturday showed that the clb was packed
