Any chance of the JV splitting and the Tigers heading to the central coast?

CC would be a chance but at this stage it would be the last place they will be heading - there is a better place we could be heading and thats all around if of course the JV agreement fails ;-)

Balmain in the last 9-6mths have gone into future control and well everything is looking very positive at the moment (and thats not even including the RE events of the last week ;-) ) and well all I can say is Wests selfishness could very well have shot themselves in the foot!

SO WHAT!!!! Who cares if they are turk's,Greek's or Hindu Arabic the money that comes through the doors is all the same colour.

I think Kingy was trying to make the point that Ashfield has a bigger population of gamblers than what Leichhardt does mate and everyone knows that Asians are the biggest gamblers in the world ;-)

Shame about the name change.

This is an end of sorts. The difference between the present and the future is the difference between a sponsorship and a joint venture. The Balmain RLFC will not have its own open age team for the first time since 1908.

The Newtown and Cronulla deal is different because it is a feeder club agreement and the Jets retain their identity at open age level.

Best of luck Balmain.

With the continual in-house fighting and the fact that both sides are now thinking about there own future instead of the better of the JV's future of the Wests Tigers its not rocket science to work it out

At this rate it will be only a matter of time before things come to an end, sure you might still have the Wests Tigers but it won't involve both Wests and Balmain in 10yrs time let alone 5yrs time unless something changes!!!!!

All I will say is that Balmain have been keeping their options open and if that meant relocating - so be it and with the pokies tax relocation has been viewed and very seriously!!!!

Maybe you should read the post again regarding the CC I said "it would be the last place they would be heading"

On STR I pose this question to you - was STR started by Balmain????

They will give 110% support behind it they would be stupid not too since they have been playing out of there for longer than most of us have been around for but why do you think they won't throw any money into the renovations - because they don't have any money too yeah don't cop that excuse ;-)

Why do you think they where trying to start up the Tigerdome at Homebush for (Which had nothing to do with Wests but was going to be viewed as the Wests Tigers homebase) when there was talk about playing out of Homebush a few years ago ????

Don't you think that even 3yrs ago that Leichhardt Oval was in trouble so why not try and do something about it back then ????

You really do need to look outside of the square mate because thats what Balmain are doing and Wests have been trying to do it for years without any success and now look what is taking place we are heading down the same direction of the Nothern Eagles sure the Wests Tigers might still remain as team in the NRL but as a combined side of Wests and Balmain well time will tell

Look I support the JV thats why I was at campbeltown in the rain on Sunday supporting them running around in Western Suburbs jerseys but at the same time I also know that unless somethings change in house there is only going to be 1 thing that eventually happens to the JV as well!!!

Does anyone know if Ryde Eastwood intend to continue fielding a team in the Jim Beam Cup competition?
Either as a 'Balmain Ryde Eastwood' PL feeder or stand alone Hawks outfit?

No Mono thye are not fielding a side in the Jim Beam Cup, thye are concentrating on Premier league as they feel that thier resources would be to far streched having 2 senior teams

Don't worry Yappy, we will still have our beloved Wests Magpies.

Don't worry about football, worry about getting a job, most of your demographic out there would kill themselves before getting one. In fact, it is my tax money supporting your people and therefore your leagues club and therefore your football club. By now i probably own the joint

Aren't Balmain fans worried about the loss of identity?

What does Ryde-Eastwood want?

What was wrong with the recognition the Hawks already got (ie. emblem on merchandise, and the phrase "Ryde-Eastwood" underneath player numbers)?

The loss of identity certainly isnt ideal for Balmain fans, but given the options the club currently has, there's not a lot to complain about . They've made a smart move , one which should guarantee their existance for years to come.

Sure its another "nail in the coffin" for Balmain Tigers, considering it was only 1999 that they were a fully flegded NRL club, and now obviously the furthest the club reaches now will be jersey flegg but i look at it this way. We were always gonna mearge our PL team eventually, yes , i would rather it have been Wests for obvious reasons but we still have merged our PL team, just not with who we thought.

Why they are playing out of LO
They still where the Balmain Jersey's with the Balmain Emblem on it
Balmain is the lead name for the side
Tigers is still the chioce of Emblem

I'm not concerned by it at all, I'm a fan of it to be honest!

Considering they will be paying for the PL side to run around I only think its fair they can have a bit more recognition

well I AM worried about the loss of identity, I'm not going to deny that it saddens me that things have come to this.

On the other hand though I also know that the alternative was losing our PL team entirely - the situation for our club isn't good, and if it had to happen I'm glad it was with a team that we have traditional ties with and not a takeover by the magpies.

(by the way R-E claiming their resources would be stretched by fielding two teams is as phony an excuse as when guildford claimed they couldn't afford a JB cup team - in both cases they simply didn't want to and cost was a convienient excuse.

So kids now playing in the Balmain DJRL will have to paly for at least 4 clubs to get to first grade, if theyre good enough.
Their local club, Balmain Tigers Jnr cubs, Ball and flegg squads, Balmain-Ryde-Eastwood Tigers in PL, or B-R-E-T, and Wests Tigers in firsts. #-o

It's quite clear that this is not the case and the Tiger identity is retained in PL via guernsey, colours, emblem and leading name.

But hey, never let the facts get in the way of ............................
