It’s not a happy marriage and tragic for the family and kids (read as football staff and fans). Sad part is that they are like so many unhappy marriages and are staying together thinking they are protecting their assets and keeping the kids happy. Just doesn’t work and usually ends badly.

I fear unless one works up the courage to seek help and get out of this unholy alliance we may see one or both at the coroners sooner or later.
They should just divorce…it’d be easier for all of us kids who have to live in an unhappy household

Are you serious
St George Bank didnt exit their sponsorship because of Ryles they flagged weeks ago that it was happening.

On Ryles, so you are saying they should give an unproven coach every single thing he wants inc a 4 year deal, $200-$400k per annum more than a rookie coach is normally paid.

Its called negotiation, you don't get dictated to by an unproven candidate.
You think that if the Dragons get Ryles, a new GM and a R+R guy in St George go through with it? Laughable. They informed the club of their intention a couple weeks ago, an intention is not final. If the Dragons land these things, St.George stay on. Not landing Ryles was the final nail in the coffin.

Not sure where you're getting ludicrous numbers like 400k per season more than usual for a rookie. He is the most highly touted rookie coach in the game. Fitzy was the most before Ryles. You think FItzy is on 400-600k? f**k no. He's on more than that. On not getting what he wants, you're telling me it isn't entirely reasonable to tell the club to f**k Haran off and get a recruitment guy in or I'm not coming? Please. Ryles wasn't getting everything he wanted. He wanted 5 years, he was willing to settle on 4. The only condition was a long, long overdue restructuring of the football department. If you think any coach will be successful without these things you're kidding yourself, these were essential conditions and bare minimum.

We now end up with Hornby or Young, great work board. They get what they wanted all along.

Chris O,Keefe who is a Dragons tragic is giving it to the club on his show on 2GB
He went right thru how the club votes etc & normal members have no say
The Dragons gerrymander constitution is the crux of our problems. Red V members have zero say. You need to be a Leagues Club member, but next hurdle is Full Membership , and then need to be on 5 year’s continuous membership before you can vote. It’s set up to protect themselves and avoid any outside influence. This is self preservation at all costs and here we are today looking at this dumpster fire!

Yep I can see your point BSE, but after the happenings of today I dont know what to think, this whole drama has just played out in such a way that really whatever the club wants to do , I couldnt really care less atm, my heart is just not invested anymore, not after this latest happening. I had decided that I wasnt going to renew my membership this year then I did, I can tell you that right now I dont feel any good about that.
Bud just as I finished saying to my wife I couldn't care less at the moment, the club has lost its SOUL...I read these comments of yours......bloody sad state of affairs mate

I think we may have dodged a bullet with Ryles.
To all the Doomsayers Ryles was not the Messiah.
Agreed.
Ryles was always a dumbass penalty magnet.
Wasn't sorry to see him leave as a player, double plus good not to have to welcome him as a coach.
He will be the new Seibold, and we don't need that.
We'll be replaced by PNG within 2 years at this rate.
At least they were a red V.
And Dan Russell might get a run.

I'm not even sure that we will get either Hornby or Young. It will most probably be a complete out of the blue decision selection. That is how this useless Board works.

I am so disappointed with how all of this has happened to us as fans and us as people who continue to write things that make so much sense but they do not come into fruition.

Look, I have said so many times that with the axing of Hook, the next guy was going to have to be it. Pay whatever, give whatever. This was the chance to really put things right for once and for all. But, as I have said, whatever we as writers on this Forum wanted to see , it has turned out to be far worse than what I was hoping they would be doing. This bloody useless Board of no-ones in my eyes. They just don't bleed for the success of the club. They just don't. They take but not give and they have now ruined the reputation of the name of the Dragons forever.

There should be big protests next game at home in my opinion to express our utter disappointment in the leaders of this club for the shame they have brought to the name of the Dragons and not doing a job they are paid to do promptly. They have arsed about forever and a day. I cannot bear them anymore, by crikey.

Yes it’s been like that since the 80s and they changed the charter to make it impossible to to get rid of them when there was a move against the board
