Are you serious
St George Bank didnt exit their sponsorship because of Ryles they flagged weeks ago that it was happening.

On Ryles, so you are saying they should give an unproven coach every single thing he wants inc a 4 year deal, $200-$400k per annum more than a rookie coach is normally paid.

Its called negotiation, you don't get dictated to by an unproven candidate.
You've raised some good points

The club that keeps giving. Don’t even have to tune into the game each week to be disappointed or embarrassed. The pain has a way of finding you when you support this club.

board getting exactly what they deserve. CEO the same.

when does the spotlight fall on them?

We will end up with Flanagan. Only one desperate enough to do it.

Nah, Flanno too head strong, they don’t like that.
It’s Hornby now, he’ll fall into line.

Must at least be heart warming to know the Board must have been unanimous on Ryles.

Now is there anyone else they can ALL agree on and who won’t want to control recruitment and pathways? After all the current blokes clearly do such a stand up job of those.

Oh and can someone now please ride a sturdy steed onto the ground in the gong and run a lance through that stupid StGeorge Bank mascot.

It's obvious that Ryles and/or his manager was "two timing" the Dragons during the negotiations. Stringing the Dragons along while hoping for a better offer. It shows a complet F U attitude to my club and I am not happy. Meanwhile the Storm's negotiations with Ryles remained completely secret with not a hint of it happening in the media. Did the Dragons BOD spill the beans prematurely to the media or were they just too stupid to keep their mouths shut until a deal was actually done. The ship is going down and I am starting to think about finding my way to the lifeboats!

We are now officially St George less now that the bank has bailed.
Just change the name to Illawarra 😩
well...I live in the St George area but can only get Wollongong TV...(A long boring story...don't ask)

Anyway, when I watch the sports report on WIN, they refer to the team as the "Illawarra Dragons"

Now...I've been called many things in my life....(dumbmerkin...dickhead...) but calling my team the "Illawarra Dragons" really grinds my gears and is totally unacceptable!

Yes, I heard that once on WIN owned C91.3 radio. I was peeved.
Maybe that was the result of that survey? Name is St George but the nick is now “Illawarra Dragons” ? I jest but it is possible.

After this complete FU, can anyone actually confirm who the candidates are, are they now back peddling as well, how do we look at them knowing they weren't first choice. Lets face it the Dragons are a coach killer, no questions asked. I will still say that there could only be one person who has the guts and that would be Hasler. If he wants control which I read somewhere that is what he asked for , then give it to him. Whatever is going on at this club certainly is not working, so for those who think that Hasler will f$%k things up, how much more is there to F$%K up, whats left. People in glass houses shouldnt throw stones !!!

Can see your point BSE but I take a slightly different view, Im sure that upon signing the contract he wanted total control of who and what the Football Dept looks like. Its obvious we havent got the right staff there and IMO its just as important as the coaching of the team. I like the fact he can have a look behind the scenes and set up the players and structures that he wants for a big off season and heading into 2024. I dont believe he can have a proper view if he immerses himself into the coaching of the team and focuses on that. As a fan and member I had pretty much written this season off with all the issues we had in the off season and the continuing tenure of Hook. ATM we are an embarrassment with lots of dramas across the whole organisation. We desperately need the right people in place to give us a fighting chance, as to what we owe the club, well I dont think the members and fans owe the club anything, because it was the club and players that put us in this position in the first place.
Mate you raise some good points.....but whoever finally is appointed I can't for the life of me see what difference it makes if they take over now.....what's the difference in setting up the structures and immersing yourself in the coaching and getting to know what makes each player tick on a one on one whilst your in charge and you've got their ear at training or in the sheds during games (thats the quickest way a rookie coach will learn his craft just watch Bennett )....having grand plans and ordering changes to staff and players whist in the background before next year may not cut the mustard with some of our Board members ..and the new appointee may not get what hes promised....we've seen it all before...anyhow just my opinion

nah...I've heard it for a while...just goes to show that they don't like "St George" down there...just as much as we don't like "Illawarra"up here
It’s not a happy marriage and tragic for the family and kids (read as football staff and fans). Sad part is that they are like so many unhappy marriages and are staying together thinking they are protecting their assets and keeping the kids happy. Just doesn’t work and usually ends badly.

I fear unless one works up the courage to seek help and get out of this unholy alliance we may see one or both at the coroners sooner or later.

I didn't think they would sack Hook unless they had someone lined up, but that looks now not to be the case.
Neither did I, but you and I were both kidding ourselves it seems, Johnno.

What a debacle this whole thing has become.

First we derailed the whole season by leaking that Hook was a goner only two rounds in. Most fans took pleasure in the fact Hook was being moved on so didn't care about the leak.

Then we hear Ryles is coming, Hook gets sacked and again most fans are cheering thinking an imminent coaching announcement was coming.

Now we know for sure all of the above was done and we didn't even have a new coach lined up, it was all based on a wing and a prayer.

I would say this is the sporting equivalent to leaving a job with nothing else to go to, but it really even goes beyond that.

We know for sure that there won't be any changes in the football operations department and that really says stick a fork in us.

I hope some of the naive forumites who thought Hook was the root cause of all problems SGI aren't feeling too stupid right about now.

Yep I can see your point BSE, but after the happenings of today I dont know what to think, this whole drama has just played out in such a way that really whatever the club wants to do , I couldnt really care less atm, my heart is just not invested anymore, not after this latest happening. I had decided that I wasnt going to renew my membership this year then I did, I can tell you that right now I dont feel any good about that.
