Has it ever been about about state of birth?
Tonie Carroll - born NZ
Greg Inglis - born NSW
etc, etc
Carroll even rep'd for NZ and then rep'd for Aus.

If they came up through the grades in Qld or NSW I don't think it's a problem.
Do you think they weren't sitting there fully invested in the state they lived in during SSO as they grew up? Dreaming of playing for them when they grew up. Ronnie did - bugger.

It’s f**ked 3-4 less games AFB and Nikora play for us per season.
And if they are anything like Hynes we can then write them off for the remainder of the season.
No AFB for three games is a killer for us.

He is our spiritual leader of our pack.

Origin has had players playing for years that have represented countries other than Aus on the international scene…. Players have played origin and represented PNG, Tonga, Samoa, Fiji etc etc, and still do today - what difference does it make if they chose to represent NZ/England instead of Samoa/Tonga. If you’re going to allow it for 1 nation, you’ve got to allow it for all, as long as the ‘must have been living in NSW/QLD under 13’ is kept in place.
You can live your whole life in NSW and be 100% a NSW man, but choose to represent your heritage on the international scene - wanting to represent another nation has no impact on origin.

Well that’s a shit go. I was enjoying the fact we had no one in the exhibition games. Nikora would have to up the ante to be considered (based on last year).

SOO was done when they allowed Adrian Lam to play, that was when the system was broken.

Is Katoa and Uele eligible

I doubt Nikora gets picked anyway

and who knows AFB might not want to play for the Blues ? Unlikely but you never know. Is hard to turn down the match payments

Agreed.
No way Brit gets picked over Liam Martin.

As for AFB - you're all forgetting who is in charge of selections.
Daley would probably pick Blake Lawrie before he'd pick AFB.

I don't see an issue with it. It doesn't open it for SBW, Burgess etc types. Foran for example who grew up in Sydney could do both. I don't see an issue with that.

Ronaldo still misses out which sucks. But now we should expect Brit, AFB and Brailey hopefully to get better experience in big games.

So if a player has lived in both states before age of 13 and say born in WA what state is he eligible for ?
Honestly read the f**king thing before having a whinge. Where they are at 13. If they are still in WA or move to Vic they can't play. If they are born in WA and living in QLD at that specific moment in time they can play. If they are 13 already and move to QLD/NSW to play u/14s they can't play origin. If they are 12 and move for 13's they can play.

The idea families will up and change their entire career/family life because of a child in an outside state/country is wild. I get the perception someone might move from NZ but that is some gamble to move your entire family for a 12 year old kid who likely won't make it. I am sure some will but even then by the time they make origin they likely will have been there for 10 plus years.

Willie Mason is an example. Born in NZ. Tongan background. Grew up in Newcastle. Proud Blue. AFB, grew up around Mascot. Can play NZ/Tonga and now he can be a Blue. This isn't new.

That’s the worry. It would be good if the competition at high level with the comps elite props further stoked the fires inAFB to prove he’s the alpha prop and it carries over into the premiership comp.

I can definitely see AFB starting the season on fire to prove he is the top dog now, so that’s a bonus.

I think it benefits the sharks when it matters.

If AFB, Nikora Brailey etc play origin, surely their performance at the pointy end of the year.
We lack big game experience and big game balls.
I think JC could be a bolter this year, but considering who the coach is a chance none get selected

I haven't rewatched our Prelim game against Storm last year, but I do remember thinking at the time that two players who had been playing great until that game let us down.
B2 and JC.
Any big game experience is most definitely needed, so ibhave no problem however many get selected.
Riccios theory: you need at least 4 SOO players in the team to win the GF.
I know coaches who have been saying a similar thing for years.
