Steve Price needs a mention, some blokes are just good assistants.

They try head coach and fail, happens often. Barrett is probably a great asstistant.

I feel a lot of these assistants don't realise their strengths become weaknesses as head coaches. The ego takes over and they think you just adopt what you learned elsewhere and players will readily get on board. O'Brien trying to be Bellamy in attitude right off the boat was really dumb. Yelling and being tough on players who are lagging is something that only works if players know it is for their benefit. That means a player has to accept their end of the bargain. It will be really smart of Peter Parr to be able to clearly define why our player's are mentally weak. Those are really the words i want to hear. After that we can clear the decks and go and find the players we need to earn our respect back. Players who will hurt you when you visit Newie. Nothing was more awesome than the early days when teams repeatedly would say we were the toughest road trip in the game. The result was not the issue. Survival was.

I just watched this presser and I gotta say I believe what he says.. Which bothers me because I know he's 3 years in and there's no proof in the pudding as yet.

I know most are onboard with getting rid of him now and I still lean towards that, but he's either a good delusional sales man or he really does have a good plan in place.

He's placing plenty of emphasis on the pre-season but why didn't he last pre-season? All clubs had their COVID disruptions.

All I’ve ever thought of his speeches are that they are textbook recitals.

Strictly theory, without ability to convert it to the practical.

I believe that AOB has a plan, he has just come from stints at the two most successful clubs of the last 15 years. But it seems to me that he's struggled to implement the plan and perhaps manages to over complicate everything, that's just what I'm seeing from the outside.

I don't question his motives, his commitment or his character. I just don't think he's got the answers. He doesn't have long to prove me wrong from here, and I hope he doesn't ruin next season too.

He is 100% gold plated delusional, in his own little world where he can't work out why this is happening to him & therefore has no clue how to fix it. Has clearly lost the playing group ages ago & no chance of getting them back. Anyone who believes in him has been drinking the Koolade & should lie down & wait for the spaceship to beam them up for their trip to the promised land.

The problem with all this uncertainty over AOB’s future is that it will make it more difficult than usual to sign players for next year. Either bite the bullet now and bring in a new coach, or get Parr in front of the press tomorrow saying that AOB is the man to go forward with and that the club will be putting xyz in place to support him and his vision for 2023 and beyond.

Based on having signed Elliott and Hetherington if we get the two Poms for 2023 we will be close to having the 30 positions filled so don’t see much changing

There’s no way they will be the only changes between now and 2023.

Parr will look at our roster and what we need, what players we can get and move players on where possible to fix the roster

Yeah I think this hits the nail on the head.

For whatever reason he hasn't been able to implement his expectations. Whether it's over coaching or he's buckled on his standards, who knows. Only thing I can say with certainty is our roster has gone backwards in his time here and we've significantly declined year-on-year in key stat metrics under AOB.

It sounds like he's begging for one more chance but I really think now it could be more of a hinderance to hold onto him than it will be beneficial. No player will want to sign knowing he has a cloud hanging over him. Will current players respond any better to him than they have this year? Unlikely.

Just a shitty position to be in so soon after our darkest years.

Has AOB lost the senior players? NRL 360 have speculated that Gagai isn’t happy and that’s what is driving his form. Clifford and Clune played well early in the season, that seems like a lifetime ago. Klemmer running his own show…

Ultimately the players will dictate what happens to him - for better or for worse. If they don’t buy in to where he wants the team to be, he’s not the right bloke for the job.

If that is the case though, Klemmer and Gagai need to follow him. They are senior players, they set the example. If the younger blokes see their behaviour and think they can get away with it too, then we are in deep s*** for years.

If Gagai really is unhappy, he’ll be a massive chance of playing for Bennett at the start of next season.

Woosh?
