Not worse, just not significantly better.

If we’re bringing in a new coach let’s bring in completely new perspectives. Not the same voices that haven’t been working. Usually when things aren’t working and the current coaches can’t work out why you need fresh minds in.
four premierships at the helm of the Leeds Rhinos, is one of the most successful coaches in Super League history. World Club championship, Challenge Cups, Special Forces career .In my opinion there's not anyone available better qualified than this man.

We've all read the pre-season stories about the army camps the players do for a few days? Those camps are nothing, and only an entre into what real training is. This guy was hardcore for a living. I'd back him to be one of the best coaches in the competition any day.

On a bit of a side note, have we ever signed a good player from the Storm? AOB is just the latest Ben Cross?

Rochow was alright for a few years. Paul Marquet’s 2nd stint was good too.
Didn’t Rochow start with us then go to Melbourne? Or I could be remembering it wrong. What happened to him anyway? I seem to remember he played some bloody good games at times. Maybe wasn’t super consistent but that could be said about most of our players from that era.

Does anyone remember Dustin Cooper? We got him from the Storm didn’t we? I remember him being pretty good but getting injured a lot (like basically every player who’s played for us in the last 20 years)

Yeah he was from Maitland and played SG Ball with us then went down to Melbourne for a few years. Played NYC and got a few FG games.

2013 was his best year. One of our most consistent players. 2014 was solid and then got a serious back injury in 2015 and was never the same player. Went to Souths and the Tigers and struggled at both.

He’s a good interim while we work through candidates. The idea that we require an immediate “better alternative” to warrant a change is crazy.

Outsider musing without knowing any behind the scenes stuff...I don't really have an opinion on AOB as a coach but can't help noticing the difference in Kurt Mann AOB / Ciraldo....maybe even worth considering Cogger AOB / Cleary ? Can't really make a case that the players aren't puting in for him as besides Best and maybe Ponga the effort in defense is great for the 80. I can't see Brown sparking your attack...he's not a leader. Maybe you guys are the one's who should be throwing a 2 year deal at Adam Reynolds?! ( if there's any money left and you could get him to leave SE QLD)

When a team's performing the lowest common denominator tends to look good.

Leadership among the playing group is definitely an issue, and has been for many years. There is not 1 natural leader in the playing group, and that's a huge issue in the pack.

That is why we were after Sorensen. Missing him was unfortunate. He was held in high regard at Sharks as a leader too,

The onfield effort and intent is getting hard to defend, and it does genuinely start with the leadership - Parr, AOB, KP.

I do think that Saifiti, Lucas and Elliott coming back will make a huge difference. Also, it’s time to use Hastings somewhere - Shane suggested Lock in the game thread, makes sense. He’s eating up close to 10% of the cap. Put him to use.

At the end of the day when you play as badly as we have been something has to happen. I’m still not convinced AOB is at fault for everything (to be honest I know he isn’t), but it’s a lot easier to sack the coach than it is 30 players.

I don’t think much will change though, especially when you consider the spine will still be the same and we’d probably only be able to afford one of our current assistants who are also responsible for the mess after paying out his contract.
