Would rather have kept Jenkins instead of Schiller but no matter how you rate him, Jenkins, it doesn’t sound good and how many others have we lost for same reason.

I would read too much into the Jenkins interview

call me biased

but I see that as he was signed to replace Dom, but when coaches saw how he went in pre season, they saw he was average and chose Tuala over him

sure he looks good at panthers, but seems to be a case of him needing to be in a good system

Yeh I don't think anyone is debating the performance side of things - even the player himself.

After all, he has been dropped from the Panthers side for the finals, so even as good as he has performed this year, he still isnt in their top 17.

As others have said, its the communication side, and knowing theres still a plan for you and an opportunity if your cup form is good enough. Otherwise players will second guess themselves and it will show in their performances.

this, it’s the not point that Jenkins is or isn’t a good player, let’s look at Kiraz as another example, Kiraz has turned out to be a legit gun but he also spoke of a similar experience with AOB where there was a real disconnect when he joined the top 30.
I can understand relationship breaking down over time, it happens, player and coach get tired of each other, complacency sets in and the player leaves in a move that mutually benefits both parties, these two examples aren’t that, it’s two young guys coming into the top 30 for the first time and being unable to establish any sort of rapport or relationship with the coach.
Look beyond them even and you have examples like Simi Sisagi, Zac Hosking, Ben Talty, Starford Toa and Gehamet Shibasaki who all seemed to get shunned by AOB, career stalled out and have all gone on to be better things elsewhere.
What always concerned me was players would drop down to NSW cup and instead of lighting a fire under them they seemed to kind of just go through the motions

Jenkins is predominantly a winger, hard to crack a run in Panthers, other than for injuries with the two wingers that played last game

There seemed to be a level of discontent with Leo and the communication from the club around his contract negotiations too, to the point where he basically put a line through us. I'm not exactly upset about missing that boat, but again it's smoke in a similar direction. Our comms with our players seems shithouse.

He’s a fringe first grader over there. He isn’t playing in the finals, and isn’t injured. Let’s not overstate his place in the game…
Who’s overstating? I am saying there is vast difference in his form this year compared to when he was here. I have heard the same argument over Kiraz. O’Brien’s developmental ability was the only thing overstated around here mate.

It might sound lol but that role got him a head coaching gig here. He’ll prob do well there with Ciraldo. Smart by him as they’re in an upward trajectory and it might help him get his second chance much quicker.

I’m not so sure they’re on an upward trajectory anymore. Reckon they peaked earlier this year and were going downhill the last couple of months. They have one of the weakest spines in the game and I can definitely see them struggling in 26.

The Dogs have this supreme habit of amping up a single season as if they are back! Galvin was a desperate ploy. When you see what Walsh has done it makes Gould's comments about him being the best young player he has seen seem senile.

Attack coach?! WTF..?
Defence coach, okay, I can understand that. But attack?! Bloody hell. Have they even seen Newcastle play? Attack was coached OUT of them under his tenure.

Unless they are just looking at the two scorelines in 2023..?
