So gratifying to hear that, MatteS. Something I assumed would be the case.Seem the perfect foil to each other. From day one, always thought Flano was more interested in building a dynasty and a legacy. Dreaming much more than simply premierships. Think Manchester United rather than A League.
You might refer to Man UTD who are doing just as well as the Red V, I would prefer to refer to Liverpool as where they need to be

Which three games have we lost in golden point this year?
I can recall one v the eels who have only won four other matches besides that one, so it's hardly a ringing endorsement of a hard fought loss when you consider how the eels are travelling thus far.

It's great that some juniors have been given debuts this year, but that isn't the standalone criteria for a coach to get an extension, you or me could coach a team in the NRL if that's all there was to it.

What concerns me the most is looking at the stats year on year with 15 matches played:

2024 - 8 wins, 7 losses, 322 for and 352 against.

2025 - 6 wins, 9 losses, 330 for and 379 against.

So statistically speaking, we're only slightly better in one aspect being attack.

Remember when Flanagan said pre season we're a way better team this year than last year? I do.
Do these stats back up what Flanagan said?
Nope they don't.

No way on this earth is he yet worthy of any extension and I daresay these numbers will look worse as the season continues to progress considering the soft draw we had to start the season.
In fairness, the Board did not hire a recruitment officer or replace the CEO until mid-2025.

Price still an assistant, Hook gone from NRL, Mary gone from NRL. Another loss on Saturday, Shane is just watching his NRL coaching career evaporate like the others.

Many think he is doing 'a great job' many of which are people who have no interest in the Dragons, and sure the debate will go on that it's not his fault he doesnt have the team. For me that excuse runs out next season and this off season is shaping up as his break or make it.

Dragons are just coach killers.

Dragons are coach killers that’s why no one wants to come here and if you do and get a 3 year contract the knives are out before the end of year 2. Reality is the club is stuffed and it really started when the peanut was left there so long

It's about finding the next Brian Smith or Cameron Ciraldo, both coaches who, after 12 months, had their respective rosters firing on all cylinders. St. George made the 1992 GF, and the Bulldogs, as we all know, have been performing at a high level since 2024. I thought Anthony Griffin would have done better in 2021, 2022, and 2023 (sacked). Flanagan is in the same boat; in 2024/2025, again, no semi-finals (nothing). Flanagan should be given the same time frame as Griffin to make things happen, so again we have another experienced coach having to throw a Hail Mary for the 2026 season.

So, every 2.5 seasons, we're searching for that next hopeful.

Completely agree that Flanagan like Griffin before him, has been given a fair opportunity and so far hasn't delivered. You can also throw Andrew Webster's name in there too, took the Warriors to 4th in his first season in charge when they finished 15th the year before.

There's no reason why a new coach couldn't come in and get better results and improve the squad from day dot.

Griffins first year - we would have made the semis but we lost to Canberra controversy in the last round- fair effort!
It could be argued that his tenure was over after the BBQ event - the whole squad got huge suspensions and we were gone after that incident.

Morons on here have been calling for SFlann's sacking before his chair got warm from his arse. Actually, in some cases, before he arrived. Morons with agendas. They cannot honestly put their hand on their hearts and say that they gave him any chance. Lucky, these Morons agendas and opinions mean absolutely nothing and the decision makers will give him a chance. Flanno's biggest danger is from CYoung and Doust. Young for obvious reasons and Doust and Flanno aren't besties at all.

Webster also dropped his bundle last year and they finished 13th. Will make the finals this year but he could have been in trouble if they bombed out again and missed the 8 badly like last year

Yep but he earned the goodwill and trust of the fans from his exceptional first year IMO.

Flanagan hasn't earnt any such goodwill from us, yet so many give it to him anyway.

Flanagan's shithouse win loss record since he got here speaks louder than anyone with a so called agenda could, matey.

Morons like you are still defending him though, how foolish and naive.

17 wins from 40 games so far, very poor.
Promised us a big second year after he wrote off the first year, before a ball was kicked off, what does that tell you?
He needs 6 wins from the last 8 games to do better than his first year that he wrote off.
He has put his thumb print on his recruitment.
Griffin in comparison got 10th place in his second year and was SACKED.
Lets get serious, the board must be watching where we are likely to end up at seasons end and take appropriate action sooner rather than later.
Sure they gave him a go, but so far there hasn't been return delivery.
The ball is in his court to deliver.

Flanagan is a flop and his efforts to date only confirm what the morons as you call them predicted he would deliver.

In fact the morons are the ones who brought into all the bullshit and rhetoric behind his signing.

He had plenty of baggage and a lot to say and in respect of that, he has delivered very little on what he had to say and his baggage has proven a serious impediment.

His lack of results are of his own making not anyone else’s and he deserves to be held accountable.

I share the frustration in the results, and i fear next year may not be too much different if the only addition to the squad is Atkinson and the loss of De-Belin.
Obviously improvement is needed, and hopefully the CEO and a recruitment manger can help.
I am not entirely sold on Flanagan, however I also don't think replacing him is necessarily the answer.
There is more than a great coach required to be a successful team or football club.
Look at the 2 bottom sides on the ladder, both have experienced premiership winning coaches and both not enjoying any success.
Surely we wouldn't replacing him with another assistant coach, there no better.
If you give Cameron Ciraldo the Dragons 17 do you think he will have similar results as the Dogs ?
We have a 14 playing at 7 and they have too many halves they don't know what to do with them.

Fact - bottom 2 squad
Fact - most experts predicted the spoon for 2024 and 2025
Fact - pass mark for 2024
Fact - still 8 rounds to go in 2025
Fact - doesn't yet have "his" squad
Fact - had 3 origin or ex-origin players want out, 2 before he arrived and 1 in the off season. Unconfirmed, but Molo wanted out - not because of SFlann.
Fact - club handed him a squad with a lot of dead wood that still had a few years on their contracts and unable to be moved on and generally stinking up the place.
Fact - unusually high injury numbers for season 2025 so far.
Fact - could easily have won another 6 or 7 games so far in 2025.
Fact - only lost 2 games by big margins.
Fact - has debuted 5 or 6 young guns.
SFlann has done OK under the shitty circumstances.
He is being marked extremely hard on here even though the reality is that not many thought we'd be competing in nearly every game. Marking standard needs to be realistic. We only have 2 players in the whole squad that would be guaranteed a start in ALL other NRL teams......Holmes and Sua.
You only have to look at the comments on this forum before games against Storm, Broncs, Sharks, Raiders, Roosters ...... "they'll put 50 on us". Etc, etc. Our forum morons leading the chorus each game.

Tim Sheen's said there are two type of coaches, one that has been sacked and the other waiting to be sacked, it's a result driven business, those results are based on wins and losses, fans don't care about the other fluff.
If you can't handle the heat, become an aged care worker on $30 an hour!
As far as I'm concerned, if St George aren't sitting top 6 next year at this point, I would be searching for someone else and not DY!
