Sack Flanagan

You and others constantly move the goal posts. Earlier in the year you were hoping we'd make the top 8, that won't happen and apparently there is still 'green shoots' which again is just non tangible nonsense like 'development and growth'.

You want to hang your hat on wins against Canberra, Melbourne and Brisbane, as if that is the tell tale sign of improvement?
Great, but how about the losses against some of the worst sides in the competition, we going to pretend that didn't happen?

The facts are, Flanagan like all coaches was employed to get the team winning. In both of his seasons so far we've lost more than we won, so the team is not winning, far from it.

You won't find a coach that has been extended by a club in the modern day after three consecutive seasons with a win loss ratio of less than 50% and Flanagan could very well find himself in that position next season.

Next Season the team has to be in the top 8, no ifs or buts, if that doesn't eventuate, you better get ready to pack his bags fo

Nah. Our very own Nathan Brown was extended at the Knights after back to back wooden spoons!
Going on winning percentages at Penrith you’d rate Anthony Griffin 58% a better coach than Ivan Cleary 45% based on his first stint as Penrith coach!!!

Yep exactly Illusion. He'll have 10-12 weeks to save his job and rightly so.
From reports of other members on this forum, not so sure that will be the case. It sounds like the club realise the shit they have turned it into and the degree of difficulty it will take to turn it around.
Unless there is a huge fall and we stop being competitive and get smashed each week, I think the club will continue to stick by him.

Don't know whether he is the answer or not, it has been so long without success, I don't know what it would look like for us. Obviously you don't think Flanno is the answer and didn't from the start but who do you honestly think could come in and actually be successful? Not just for the sake of flicking Flanno.

I would take any of Hook, Mary or even Price back if it meant success, but I honestly don't know who could come in and be successful. The likes of Ryles, Walker brothers, Hannay etc could be successful, but no one has a clue in reality and would just be a game of hope with nothing to back it up.

We finally have some stability within the board with Lancaster as chairman over a consistent period, Watson coming in as CEO & Ando as well. Maybe they are the first pieces of the jigsaw needed to bring the club back to being a consistent powerhouse.

I'd like to see how Flanagan prospers under a new coaching team; Young and Carr gone, and Walker Brothers hired).

No white wanting by Young
Fresh ideas and better defence system

Fair enough re Browny, however the Knights were 6 wins and 8 losses in June 2018 (very close to 50%) when they 'extended' him and really it was a performance based contract which made it clear they wanted some results.

I don't know where I've ever said you can go back to past coaches at different teams and figure out who's the better coach based on that?

What I have said and do know is that the results under Flanagan, this season especially, are not good enough.

Firstly, I wouldn't take the word of anyone on here as gospel, more often than not they are wrong. You may also be confusing people in the know with a few who continually defend all of the poor results under Flanagan, if you expand your horizons to social media platforms you'll see a lot more supporters are pissed off with Flanagan's tenure and probably a better indication of the mood of the fan base IMHO.
I don't see a scenario were the club will stick by Flanagan if results don't improve and particularly we don't make the 8 next year.
He was given three years and will have to earn an extension from more than just good will, the same opportunity was given to Griffin and how did that work out?

Ultimately we don't know if a new coach would be successful or not, however that's not a reason to stick with the existing coach who isn't getting the results. Do you know of any other clubs that use that logic? If someone isn't performing, they get replaced. If someone's contract is expiring, they need to earn an extension, two pretty common principles of NRL coach and player contracts.

Love it!

People on this forum "changing the goal posts"

Moving the goalposts is the way to adjust expectations and celebrate small wins when facing difficulties. Like 10 missing from your sub-standard roster?

Essentially, failing to adapt leads to conflict, and a lack of progress. Flanno's not perfect but he has adjusted.

But for some, not changing the goal post is easy when goal posts are based on pure hate!
