Hook is contracted to the end of 2023 and has been invited to again submit his credentials for consideration with a chance at winning a new contract so what is so unusual about that?

Hook has been informed that on the basis of results thus far the BOD will also be considering applications from other interested applicants and Hook is also aware that sometimes coaches are automatically offered an extension on the basis of their results thus far but that will not be the case this time albeit it was last time.

Timing of such negotiations is important with consideration needed for the season underway, the seasons yet to come, availability of potential applicants who are waying up their own futures, external player movements, retention / release of existing players all of which happen at different points during a season so to be proactive is a good thing and creates a healthy environment where everyone knows where they stand.

The old adage of "the early bird catches the worm" cannot be underestimated here so f**k the press maggots and their buddy buddy attitude and good on the club for starting to draw lines in the sand and hopefully that attitude goes down to the playing group as well in so much as if you don't want to put your best foot forward every single time then don't let the door hit you in the arse on your way out and that should start with Hunt.

Half the issue here is the actual inept board. I can't see how at the very least Lancaster and Webb to name 2 keep their positions but I have no illusions that either will voluntarily resign from the board. We desperately need a Manager of Football with a footballing background and connections with player managers just to entice much needed players who will want to actually come to the club and restore pride in the clubs jersey. Anyone who has been involved in RL knows that money is of course relevant but the holy grail is wearing a premiership ring before you retire. Our club at present is not a competitive top 8 team hence this is one of the top reasons nobody with decent ability wants a bar of us. We have to change that scenario otherwise we can forget playing semi finals football in the near future. Just my opinions

Yes Mojo, I don't think the Board told Griffin:
1. To select older players out of form in preference to young players.
2. Recruit Woods and others that have bot worked.
3. Play a brand of football that is solely focussed on minimising mistakes,
4. Have players on the bench until the very last minutes of a match.
5. Not been able to read when your forwards are gassed and not making changes.
6. Playing one out running - 5 hit-ups and a kick.
7. Continually have a compressed defence and watching teams shift wide to get around our wingers.

Sure there is more, but you get the drift.
Pretty accurate.
perhaps point 4 should have an exception disclaimer if your name is Mbye…also add the word ‘sluggish’ before wingers in point 7.

And to think we could have been a year ahead of all of this if the morons running the club didn’t completely needlessly extend Griifin by an extra year when it was already clear we were going nowhere under him….
Or their preferred choice for 2023 was actually not available until 2024 or perhaps even 2025 so they needed to have an interim in 2023 so better the devil you know rather than the one you don't.

If we had an interim say Noddy or Morris etc and they actually had a good year then dumping them for your preferred would also be met with criticism.

I wonder what people would think if the club had said in 2022 Hook is extended until the end of 2024 but in 2025 Bellamy or Bennett is the coach?

Hasler & Turbo would be noooice
Slippery5. Do you mean Tasler and Turbo (2 T's)?
Just my 2 cents worth- its common knowledge that there's a split in the playing group and things aren't working. So it seems pointless to let this go through to the end of the season just because you don't want to sack a coach. I thought we were here to win, not keep the coach happy. I hate seeing the players decide who is going to coach them, but the problem already exists, so why sit back and let it fester. We need someone strong like a Hasler to come in and lay down the law. When i spoke to Hook at one of the earleir fan days, to me he seemed all airy fairy about it, like it'll come good-just wait and see.Well you know what-ive waited long enough. Im sick of the excuses, the "were in a rebuilding stage", and " you wait and see". I want results now, and i want to see a team committed to winning, not waiting on the field after yet another loss and not wanting to face the supporters because once again you dealt up total shit on all your overblown wages. I pay a lot of money to see home games, and i expect to see a team who wants to win as much as i want them to win. Time for a new coach-and i mean now
The only way that most of the playing group would be happy is for the club to engage a reputable and respectable coach who would have the total respect of the players and who can provide a winning culture and strong man management to all of the players. I don't think that whomever is selected will have all contracted players happy in the circus overall as I'm sure that there would be several wanting to keep Hook as the coach just like Hunt and that brings about some conflict.

What I am saying is that there would still be troubled waters no matter who we get for quite a while. That has been the nature of the club for a long time now.

What happens in the next few weeks will certainly be interesting.

Last time we where looking for a coach I though Griffin was the right selection and I congratulated the club on its selection. I even thought that the board had turned the corner.

After 2 years, its was clear as day that Griffin was not the coach we though he was and was similar to McGregor.

So the board was right back to its usual incompetent self by extending Griffin for this year. There is no way he should have been extended.

From the shortlisted potential coaches, each should be asked their assessment of the current style and roster of the dragons and what they would do if given the job. These are the basis of selecting the next coach and the Recruitment and GM positions need to have the same KPIs assigned to them.

Also, the Roles and responsibilities between GM, H-coach and Recruitment manager need to0 be clearly defined. I get the feeling its not universally understood by the current people in these jobs.

Its Time.

Time to cut Hook loose.

The supporters don't need to suffer any more.

Bird needs time in NSWCup.
Mbye should not be seen again in NRL. Sullivan to 14.(Sharing hooker with Liddle)
Lui Toso needs to come onto the bench for M.Molo. He was strong today in NSWcup.
Mogo is not first grade standard.
Lomax - take his goal kicking away and let him concentrate on his game. (Sullivan and Hunt can kick)
Sloane needs to be positioned correctly on the 5th - was too short today and Canberra made lots of metres off their kicks.

Kick chase was ordinary today, Mogo once stood there watching the ball rather than jumping on it. Same for Feagai wasn't really energised today.

Our link plays are still dis-jointed, Hunt and Amone to the backrowers/centres is clunky. The backrowers get the ball and are always standing still. Surely they know the play and can be running into the appropriate positions.

Anyway, Anzac weekend next week and we. usually make important decisions leading into this weekend. Hopefully, its not to extend Hook.

If anyone had any doubts regarding the team and club being split into 2 separate factions/camps then yesterday's inept performance should put any doubts to bed. Even the happy go lucky I don't have a care in the world player Jack Bird on numerous occasions gave his own players a mouthful. Coaches are measured by their success on the field, just measured on this Griffin needs to be advised that his services are no longer required. I'll discipline, lack of communication and poor skill sets need to be addressed, you cannot miss 40 - 50 tackles a game consistently or complete your possessions under 80% to be a competitive team in this competition. But most importantly the current culture of our club and teams needs priority, starting from the inept unqualified board members down to support staff. No new coach is going to fix the rabble we have been allowed to become since the infamous BBQ unless he is given free reign to make the necessary changes and hard decisions. I indicated back in 2021 that just relying on my own experiences playing and coaching RL (albeit not at NRL 1st grade level) in the last 50 yrs that we would not have a competitive top 8 team until 2025 unfortunately it would appear my prediction may well come to fruition very sadly.
