Always thought Barrett was a good Coach but look how Potter has got the dogs playing
Organised ,Flair ,Attacking ,Enjoying their footy and showing a resilliance in defence and pride in the jumper
All of those qualities we presently dont possess
Even BBQ Bob is playing out of his skin
Potter a former Dragon ..just perhaps he could drag us out of the mire 🤔 🤔
Potter was a former Dragon, but was originally a dog. He finished his career with the Western Reds.

His coaching credentials are not that impressive, except for two years at St Helens. A bit of a disaster coaching the tigpies, but does have the dogs coming home with a wet sail.

My thoughts after yesterday - club management and the board clearly thought they could continue the status quo in terms of the way the overall footballing department is managed, but for a potentially better result under a more seasoned coach than Mary?

Most significant part of the game yesterday - Cowboys made two separate errors deep in our attacking third during the first half. We had to score off the back of at least one of those errors, but were totally lethargic and looked like we had absolutely no idea what we were doing. Matt Feagai, for all his development as a player over the last 18 months, he needed to keep the ball in both hands when going for the line. In a way - this is kind of unforgiveable and makes me wonder what we do at training every other day of the week.

Net week-to-week results = still the same
Net improvement on the ladder and in our standing within the game year-over-year = still the same
Philosophy on recruitment & retention = still the same
Week-to-Week player selection philosophy = still the same
Game plans = still the same
Bench usage / rotation = still the same
Assistant coaches being identified and used as scapegoats = still the same

Bottom line - yesterday was proof that we aren't a top 8 team, and we never will be a genuine contender until we fix/make improvements in the above listed areas. It's been relatively the same things now for the best part of the last 10 years. It's gone on for far too long.

Ben Hunt is our best player - it's daylight and over the horizon to whom is second best. We're in real trouble because he only has a year left beyond this one, and while weighing up decisions to re-sign him we need to consider $ value vs him going into 'over the hill' status (which will happen sooner than we think due to the workload he's encountered this year). We need a point of difference for 2023 - whether that is putting complete faith in, and not dropping, Sloan, Sullivan or whomever else out of the juniors or going all out in the market to try and find it.

The more and more I think about it - the more and more we need to get Shane Flannagan in the hot seat. We someone no nonsense who is going to command complete control of the footballing department. Someone who is going to command we go and chase the best players that we need to fill key positions who are available in the market. Someone to put faith in players ability rather than going conservative based on 'experience' or 'past reputation'. Someone who will set game plans to suit the opposition of the week. Someone who knows how to use the bench. Someone who will get the best people working with him on the footballing team staff.
NOT someone who is there as a puppet to appease the egos and wants of the board.

Not surprising as their roster significantly bigger, tougher and faster than ours and they woke up to Dufty much quicker than we ever did and that just proves how poor Barrett was as a coach.

Absolutely spot on.......
What is happening? With Recruitment?
What is Flanagan getting paid for?
This bunch of f**kwits running our club haven't got a clue.
Sorry BBTB, but the CEO has already stated publicly that the club is looking at rerention rather than recruitment for 2023. This board has virtually remained the same for the past 10 years at least. If you look at the 2012 side who ran 9th....2 points out of top 8......they would beat this side by 20, and for the last 10 years we have gone backwards. The messages that I read here now are the same I have been seeing in all this time, without any reason for for us to look forward to any future hope, or any future change.

They bought in a coach who knew what success was and made Saints the benchmark in 2010/11. Flanagan or Maguire have won a comp so should be looked at or better still Christian Wolf who won comps in England.

No more looking at rookies or coaches that have won nothing in their careers. The only coach I would get who has not won a comp is Brian Smith because he at least got to 4 Grand Finals and lost 3 of those to the best coach but he has been out of the game for way too long. One thing Brian will do is build a good squad as he gets the best out of his players especially youngsters.

I think Wolf is on his way to the Dolphins as an assistant to Bennett.

well our sad tale is last year we finished 11th with a F&A of -142, so far we are 11th with F&A of -124, we blamed BBQ gate for our demise last year, what is the excuse this year ??? To make matters even more embarrassing for our visionary coach, the Broncs and Cows ended up below us on the ladder. Talk about churning out the same dull, boring uninspired team each week with some sort of excuse. Please show me where we have improved both in D & A !!!! Actually last year showed us how poor our depth was and this year it has shown how poor recruiting and coaching is. We paid peanuts we got monkeys but dont allow the standard of wages and bonuses for club administrators waiver because they deserve every cent for all their hard work. God forbid they might leave if they took a salary cut.

You think we’re in the race for the semis?
Yes mathematically if we win minimum 4 out of 5, if we win 5 mathematics wont come into it.
Do I think we will do it on performance. No. But still have hope.
The point only was Tigers & Titans cant even hope for either

I understand all the sentiment re sacking Hook but in all honesty I don’t know of any coach capable of

Putting brains in heads that have none
Putting speed in legs where there is none
Putting hearts in chests that have none
Putting ability into youth that is grossly overrated

Our roster is simply atrocious and even the very best of. the best coaches would more than struggle to get this lot into the 8.

Predominantly players at our club are here because other clubs didn’t / don’t want them and even then we over paid to get them / keep them and tbh their former clubs have not missed them but actually reinforced those positions which they play.

The sad reality is we are the basket case of all basket cases.
You were saying the opposite earlier this year.
But we are not going good ATM but not the worst
How are Titans, Newcastle & Warriors going with all their spending in the past couple of years and after the first 2 falling in the 8 last year.
Least the Warriors along with Dogs and Tigers are making coaching changes
Gus stood tall during the whole Barrett signing last year and this year how good a coach and how safe he is. How long did he last after their open cheque book spending spree last year

The DNA will show that the imposter is Hook, but the D & A atrocities are due to the AC's. You are right with what you say justa and most here have said the same virtually but what we say goes nowhere except to allow us to let off pent up steam and frustration and stress and anger.

I am really getting sick and tired of all this negative stuff over the past 10 years and there is no sign that there will be any positives coming through even though Webb said a few good things on the podcast and what we have sniffed out in the rumours that talks are in place to re-sign Hunt and Amone and trying to get another hooker signed of which the best has to be got and not the second best. Bigger, hard running, hard tackling, ball off loading type forwards are needed to put the fear in the opposition - why don't they just do that? The backs can wield their magic following the big guys just so logical.

There are still Newcastle fans who'll try and convince you Brian Smith ripped the heart out of the club...

How much longer can this bloke praise the opposition?
Guess when you’ve virtually run out of stuff to praise your own mob with then it’s a handy deflection…
Hook is probably praising the opposition because deep down he wishes to be a coach of one of those sides as they are winners. There isn't anything that he and the players have done to bring on any praise as they are losers.

We have now become a laughing stock even amongst the Journos
They along with everyone else sit patiently watching our games and when it gets near the 60 minute marker , they joke about saying " standby for the Dragon fade out " and true to form , we fade off into the ether ..
How embarrassing ..This once proud club now the joke of the league,
Werent we called chokers before Bennett came to the place ??
He fixed it temporarily but the flood gates have burst wide open yet again
You desperately need a coach that will put the Fire back in the Dragons..This bloke isnt him.......
