He is the coach.
He, and a few others from within the club, have stated he has taken a back seat to all other aspects (recruitment etc etc) and he is solely focusing on coaching.

Those 'other aspects' you refer to form the basic responsibilities of a head coach. Mary has seemingly been stripped of duties (and dignity), yet you hail his 'coaching' genius.

You and mickeylane are champions of Mary apologetics.

I thought you might have included me here OV. I was hoping to see Mary's Crush next to Mickeylane.
BTW, are you enjoying the wins?
Tough few weeks coming up but I think this well coached team is up for the challenge.

How on earth do you come up with some of the shit you dish up in here.

If you have some insight to the inner workings of the club by all means share them but if not don't be such an arrogant cynical twat and lighten up a little.

I know it must be hard for you.

Thats your opinion. And as usual its negativity towards the team.
Facts are facts champion... St.George Illawarra Dragons are leading the comp.
They are coming first.
Best attacking team.
And Mary is coach!
If you want to overlook current facts to ONLY dwell on the past, thats your perogative.
In 2017 after 7 rounds we are coming first.
We have only lost one game.
The boys are playing out of there skin.
If you cant give credit where credit is due... then in my opinion the team is better off without people like you.
No one says the last 5 years have been acceptable. .. all we are saying is this year, THIS YEAR, we are going extremely well on the park.
Call us apologetics or whatever you want... its still better then being a sad negative twit that is still suicidal even when the team is smashing anyone put in front of them.
And again, with Mary as coach.
Oh when the saints!!!!!!!

After the first half yesterday, I say "thanks for the legacy JD". As for the second half we should have put them to the sword instead of maybe thinking about next week.

We are a tough bunch to please....whatever was placed in the off season has worked. There is no denying the team are playing great and support and believe in the coach.
Yesterday's 2nd half was a timely wake up call for the team...maybe getting ahead of themselves a bit...it just takes a few players to drop the intensity and before you know it, we are back pedalling, with the opposition on a roll. Lesson learnt I hope!!

Hate to be cynical, and I know it's only a little thing but it does bug me a little, and that is a feeling I get that Mary appears reluctant to criticise the poor aspects of the teams performance. I feel other coaches would of expressed their disappointment at not closing out the game, ie "happy to get the win but as a team we really need to be better at closing out games" or something along those lines.

Maybe this is brought about by being in a negative environment for so long, and maybe there is a time and place for such analysis, and Mary does not bring that to the press conferences, hopefully that's the case

good times! but IMO what we're seeing this year is Dragon's being able to execute an expansive attack, viz. 'keep the ball alive' that at least 6 NRL clubs play to each week ...

this outcome is driven by new playing confidence factors like a) performance team (Coyne etc) recruited to address poor player motivation under 2016 McG debacle; b) reduced scope of McG 2017 role; c) McG and player l'ship mtgs where McG's hand has been forced / dictated to adopt an expansive style that suits the players and that they want/ need to play.

hardly the credentials of a premier NRL coach ... by all means a massive learning curve for McG and good luck to him, but I feel our outstanding success so far is due to key players playing to their instincts and having free tactical reign and good support running ... this was not the coaching style McG bought to the club in 2015, so IMO he's 'winging it' a bit, and this inexperience remains a risk for serious 2017 title contention.

It's seems our supporters have had to put up with McGregor and his coaching and now the vultures are after Widdop, Duges and Packer.
The club is looming as a train wreck.
The BS that Millward puts out is unbelievable. We need positive news now, not after one or more of the three are going somewhere else.
Club like the roosters and bullgrubs seem to have mega money. I would love to see their players contract sums.

Typical. All is mostly quite well on the field, top of the table, but can we actually enjoy it??

Dugan, Widdop, move on if you need to. Let's get back to footy in 2017.

The only things that have change from the difference from last year is we got few better players and Widdops kicking game has improved.?McInnis passes out of dummy half and tackles,we may as well have maketo as hooker..If we won't to win a few games this is good.If we want to win a comp we need a good coach. It seems like no really cares if we win a comp

I think Tedd is correct, pull the trigger to this incompetent person, Brian Smith would have come with a game plan to protect our captain, no body guard for our number 6!
