First half of the season was excellent.
Second half was terrible.
Finals campaign was good.
The season ended up being average.
Mary, Young and Hornby don’t deserve another crack.
2018 was amazingly similar to 2011 in so many ways. We were leading the comp until Round 15 and then hit a massive speed bump and into free fall, with two credible albeit disappointing finals performances to end it all. Sounds familiar aye.
What can't be understated is that, save for a slight question mark over the ability of our 1-5 this year, both years
we had the team to win the comp. In one case we had a master coach who, for mine, had his mind elsewhere for the back half of the year, and in the other, the amateur one who, despite his strengths, just didn't know how to manage players.
I'm convinced McGregor is here next year. Let's face it. He will retain his spot because 1. it's easier than sacking and paying him out 2. the Broncos game (which I am still on a high from) will save him. He is the cat with nine lives. If rumours that they are out to re-sign him are true then I will volunteer myself for the straight jacket. Send me straight to the asylum.
