Pretty sure the mole was 100% certain that Tim Sheens was taking over from Price or was it Bennett, as well. His strike rate is not high at all so nothing to worry about.

If they are in talks it should be Saints asking this question - :"The 2 teams in the grand final are in there because they rested their stars and Mary you chose not to. Please explain why you chose not to? We are paying the coach to win comps for the Dragons not NSW. Was losing 6 games with busted players a better option that 2 with juniors whilst the stars freshen up?"

With all due respect Slippery, Mary is highly regarded by some at the club. Add to this that the players like him...personally I don't get it...only positive may be that they bring in more outside help for him...

The worst possible thing to happen was the Broncos game in the finals and the 1 point loss to Souths...it wipes out the question marks over the Parra and dogs game ...Someone quoted that people high up see Mary as a Career Coach...I have heard similar...There are people with Good sources at the club, maybe they can get more info...either way we are stuck with him.

First half of the season was excellent.
Second half was terrible.
Finals campaign was good.
The season ended up being average.
Mary, Young and Hornby don’t deserve another crack.

True that.
The top 4 team didn’t make the top 4.

The whole setup after Origin displayed our manager’s complete lack of knowledge in addressing all areas of player management for three years running..... something has to give.

McGregor was 100% successful in failing, again.

Mary will serve out his contract.

Team effort during finals series saved his arse, and has provided him with a reprieve.

Had Donkeys slaughtered us in week 1, he would have been toast.

My concern is if the team starts the season strongly in 2019 he will receive an extension.

Hopefully in 2019 he reaches the standard of a FG coach otherwise this thread will reach 1,000 pages.

This is why l was prepared to forgo a victory for long term gain.
Seems like we’ll now have long term pain.

Good Lawd ! I am sure that nobody would had thought that this season from hell could not had gotten any bluudy worse ! What’s the old saying - there is death after death ?

There is no way that he should be resigned or extended for any coaching position at the Dragons , full bluudy stop . This news has now guaranteed that I will be having many sleepless nights in the future , somebody give me a BEX pleeeease .

Can't believe we were one game away from a disastrous year . We beat the Bronco's then they want to extend Mary's contract . The boys Club at it again , before the change over . If this happens nothing will change all looking after each other .....

There should be no negotiations taking place other than those in respect of players.
All other decisions should be on hold until such time as the new CEO is in the chair.
If that proves not to be the case then that means the Illawarra connection hold the reins and St George are the donkeys pulling the cart.
Potentially 8–10 years of Mc Fookknuckle who would have thought that possible after all that has unfolded.
Now where is that “It’s a Mess” thread?

Correct...more than likely 2 year extension which would see him @ the club till 2021... that would be 8 years...He'd have to be gone after that..Surely...

I don’t like to differ between our two clubs but there is no way the St George club would accept and promote such a wasted year, following the previous.

Would the Rorters accept being first for most of the year .... to not even make the top 4?

No a chance!
They even moved on their favourite son, in Fittler.

You can bag or talk about the sombrero at the roosters but there is no way the board would accept 2 years let alone 5 of what we have put up with.

Like I said Mary was not responsible for the finals games where we looked the goods. We have a good team and with a few tweaks can be a force. Unfortunately we won’t be that force until our board realizes that Mary cannot get is to the next level.

Surely we are not a club that accepts mediocrity we should be a powerhouse.

Let’s make it simple for our board.

Don’t sign McGregor and see what clubs would be knocking on his door. My local footy side won’t even bother with him.

There are no excuses anymore as we are indeed no longer beholding to the NRL , at least since the $6mill.debt was repaid by the kindly Mr. Gordon . Surely he would not be happy about the current state of affairs , that being 5th ?

I was expecting him to have some sort of input ( under the guise of the WIN cooperation ) as to the best way for the Dragons to get ahead - why else pay the dough into the joint venture that he did , to see it go down the drain with the steady flow of mediocrity year in and year out ?

I’m a little torn on the sack Mary now
IMO Nathan Buckley from Collingwood was in the same boat exactly. Now he has the pies into the gf and everyone loves him. He needed time same as Mary. He had mixed results same as Mary.
The only difference in my mind is that the Collingwood club is so much more professional and has more resources than ours.
In any event there is no need to alter Mary’s current deal.

Nows the time to act on the coaching role. Bennett has been told to move on after next season. I would sign him now for next year and let McGregor go.
We are not far off with the squad we have. With a couple of additions to the squad and a quality coach we could win a comp.
We all know there is a small window when you have a quality team.
