Pretty much this. I’ve floated in & out of this forum for most of the season because there isn’t a lot to add that hasn’t been repeated for what, 5 years? It’s criminal(not really the right word but you get my drift)that we continue to spin our wheels & the club thinks it’s all going well & heading in the right direction. This year is cooked & my expectations for 2020 are really low - probably where the club likes it so any success is a lever to justify another contract extension.

Surely they can't sit back and let that happen without doing something if this board and coach were in private industry thay all would have been sacked long ago.

They should be in the atomic bomb shelter business Sammy , as nothing seems to touch them . The Joint Venture and the team is exploding all around them , yet they continue to survive , unbelievable.

We could lose every single game this year from here and 6 weeks in a row next year before the final nail even gets close to coming out.
Mary is best mates with the people that put him and keep him there. He drinks with them. Plays cards with them. Has BBQs with them.
They will give him every opportunity and then some to turn this around.

In my opinion, it won't be long now before there is an announcement that Mary won't be the SGI head coach for 2020. Barrett will be named the interim coach and this time a proper selection process will be conducted.

It's also clear that rumours of his extension being a done deal before the season started were true as well. It makes you wonder how they would have dealt with that fact if Manly had received a penalty in the dying seconds of the game in the Gong and gone on to win.

Then it got me thinking what would you call him(I’m sure there are plenty of things that come to mind) but in all seriousness you can’t even call him a caretaker because anyone else would take more care with our team!! I hope that is indeed the case Frank , it would make a wonderful Christmas present and also make our ‘ extended ‘ off-season just that bit more tolerable .

I have a sneaking suspicion that the club has a clause in Mary's contract that they can terminate this year. And it's a suspicion I've had all year.

Johnston being shifty about reviewing Mary at the end of the year and Mary himself admitting to players that he "will get moved on" if results continue suggest to me there's more to the agreement.

Perhaps the board see sacking Mary with 6 games to go as rather pointless, and will take a chance at a fresh start during the October break.

All optimistic speculation of course. But it's nice to think about
