There will be changes....when training commences for the 2020 season in Nov the club will announce new assistant coach/es for McGregor. They will thank the old boy(s) for their stellar service to the club and the Cycle just starts all over again..........................
And the head of our axis of evil gets a pass & we get more Dragons footy from the sh*t shooter.

That's how they like it.... They will more than likely announce changes when the new season starts..McGregor safe....All we can do is vote with our feet.

The Illawarra Truth 26.8. 2019

The St George Illawarra Dragons have announced the imminent departure of coach Paul McGregor at the end of the 2019 season.

Yesterday the Board finished a review of the clubs performances for the season and considered that in all of the circumstances, the organisation needed to take a new direction for the 2020 season and beyond.

It is rumoured that the board have been in discussions with Geoff Toovey, a condition of his tenure being the engagement of new coaching staff thought to include Neil Henry and Hoss Cartwright in consultant roles.

Fans have taken some comfort from the recent signings of George Burgess, Ethan Lowe, Jake Granville and Blake Ferguson.

This comes at a good time for the club after a series of what has been described by some as “forgettable” seasons.

Paul McGregor was unavailable for comment.

I don't watch them any longer, in actual fact I will not even watch them next year either leading the comp or coming last, it is getting to a stage that I really really really dislike the Board and the Coach for what has happened.

It is rumoured that the board have been in discussions with Geoff Toovey, This is incorrect...Toovey never played for the Red V. We welcome the foloowing " Old Boy/s" to the coaching staff.

Fans have taken some comfort from the recent signings of "Insert JOURNEYMEN "....they bring 3000 games of experience to the club...following the departure of many players to further their careers elsewhere.

The Board will make no further Comment....

Then some Stupid slogan...Brave/Powerful/Majestic...Sign up for Red V memberships for 2020

You’re a braver man than me. I couldn’t sit & listen to the delusion he trots out as his reality. Sure there were some good signs amongst a whole lot of sh*t but it’s ‘the best squad I’ve ever coached’ & we’re running 14th.
He's comfortable knowing that he has a job for next year. He's written this year off, fully accepting that we will finish bottom 4. Cant win em all mentality!
Nothing will change next year.

It isn't as simple as that unfortunately.

We had a near full strength team. Souths players were clearly confident they could tire us out and steam roll us at the end. We were errant with the ball in hand (Hunt, Widdop, Tyson, Aitken drop balls, misdirected passes), and quite meagre when attacking to put it succinctly.

Our game didn't start offensively until the 65 minute mark. 65 minutes of cringeworthy football. While some scramble on either side and off goal kicking stopped Souths accumulating a big score, they showed they only needed half a set to put us down ultimately. Summed up our last 5 years perfectly.

It would have been heart-breaking instead it was almost laughable. I can't describe the feeling.

Now for the real awful bit...

From what I've seen in the media and from our board, I get a strong feeling that this loss has probably strengthened his hold on the coaching job. Such is the level of mediocrity that our leaders have brought us to.

I feel for every red and white supporter out there. This is not just a lean 9 years, this is a smear on the integrity of the club. Sure, when this guy goes and a professional takes his place we may improve, but our reputation has changed for ever.
If Mary stays how the hell are we going to sign any top class players.

If this board had an ounce of objectivity they would be looking ahead for a replacement for McGregor now. Cooper Cronk is one I suggest is worth targeting, even if they allow McGregor to see out his term. Bellamy has openly admitted that Cronk (and Smith) made him a better coach. Cronk is apparently a strategist, a serious type of guy, a deep thinker and not someone who wants to be everybody's mate- you might say the polar opposite of McGregor.
Break the mold! Nudge one or more of the old boy seat warmers out of the joint and make a big offer to Cronk to join the coaching staff next year in some capacity ( instead of Barrett) with a view of him taking over as coach in two years time. And get some decent support staff. What's to lose?

At least the impostor has changed his view on one thing. He reminded us that we were only 1 metre away from scoring 2 more tries (Hunt/Aitken) so if the fields were 99m, we win that game.....at least we've moved on from 98m fields. Hopefully by 2021 we will actually learn to play on 100m fields.
Mary must have been inspired by Al Pacino's pre -game speech in 'Any Given Sunday', only he was talking about a 'game of inches'.

It won't happen - not with Widdop and Graham back. They will win both and handily too. So four of the sides wins will have come from the two last-place sides. Watch them say McGregor did a good job with all of the distractions and injuries.
I don't think they're capable of beating anyone handily.....if we win it'll be like the two field goal games earlier this year. And I can't see us beating them twice
