Inspired by your take on it, thank you.

I can’t for the life of me understand, in any way, why any other thread exists in this entire sgi forum except for this one.

I will say more.

If you love the club and you are coaching it and it is failing, you throw in the effing towel and give someone else a shot.

You don’t ponce about looking depressed and making excuses...for years, killing off your few remaining supporters.

You do the right thing, admit that for whatever reason, the results aren’t there under your leadership and you resign.

You don’t have to blame anyone, you just leave and people will respect you for that. Then you can say in future years that had you stayed, something better may have happened with you and the team you crafted.

But when you cling on and on and on and things get worse and you get summarily dumped and sacked, it’s all over. You are an embarrassment, you are humiliated and you lose respect. People think you are a complete tool and hopeless. You had your go on your own terms, you got everything you asked for and you blew it. And you were so arrogant you failed to see it and had to be dragged away.

So Mary, just stand up for the club and the supporters and fall on your effing rusting sword while you still can. Mercy is on her way out the door Mary. Grab her arm son, leave together. Don’t head into the future alone.

Don’t spend the rest of your life being regarded as a selfish fool who can’t coach. Better to be regarded as someone who wasn’t right at the time, recognised it and left with dignity.

A much better story for the rsl in a few years instead of years of resentment of truth tellers.
I don't think he will ever be remembered as anything other than the worst coach that this club has ever had.
That is what McGregor's legacy will be.

You would be right from a professional viewpoint.

From a social one, he needs to make a decision about how he wants to be remembered.

I just think he will be more highly considered into the future if he puts the club first and resigns ASAP than clings on to every thread until someone cuts the rope and takes a finger off accidentally.

Madge got a few cuts at Souths.

Mary has to think about the long evenings in the rsl now and whether or not people will include him in the shout or upon spotting him, walk over to the Shanghai Hooker machine and try to get the three entombed warriors instead.

You are describing old school values and ideals in the digital age.
McGregor's motivation is financial first and foremost.
He is earning much better money now than when he was a player and it is hard for him to trade that in for ideals.
Once he finally goes or is fired, what is left for him?
Maybe an assistant's job somewhere?
He'll never be a head coach in the NRL again so he's making every post a winner.
He knows he's on borrowed time but I am sure he would happily walk if the club paid out his contract.
That's reality unfortunately and it also underscores how ridiculous the second contract extension was.
Look at McGregor's coaching record after the extension.
Hardly won a game.
We are the laughing stock of the NRL.
Johnston painted himself into a corner and looks an absolute goose right now with his unbridled support of Mary as the "right man to take the club forward".
So McGregor will never leave no matter what happens.
They will have to drag him out of the coach's box.
No integrity, no dignity or elegance as a human being.
Quite happy to sit in press conferences and tell people we can still win the comp.

Why is it that league commentators can so readily flog any other NRL coach except Mary, the coach who actually deserves the highest criticism. Really, why?

Very good example O.V. Seibold needs to pick up the phone and get some pointers from Teflon Mary on how to keep the scribes on side.

Mary and co taking the assistants out the back and shooting them in the back of the head.

Sacrificed for following Marys orders.

They must feel dirty and ready to turn on him.

FMD you have a sick club at the moment.

A lot of people won't agree with this post but I have to credit where credit is due today at the members day McGregor showed up and talked to a lot of the fans shook hands and answered peoples questions. I don't attend these events much anymore because of work but I remember when we were going poorly in 2012-2014 Price never had the cojones to show his face and face the music.

Truly an enigma of massive proportions.
Where do the journos get their optimism from?
Why are they so reluctant to dissect the McGregor tenure from how he was appointed, how he was extended and why he hasn't already been shown the door?
It would be interesting reading...

If our hero really cared for all and sundry, he would realise that he is failing all these kindly and decent folk and stand aside.

Shooting the assistants is announced before the review. That’s just a shocker.

This supports the view that the review is a just a rubber stamp for the psychotics running your club.

Mary will be back for sure with two new lambs for the slaughter to blame in August 2020.

He is paid to do that...pity that's about all he excels in.

He spoke to me in the carpark after the event as well I'm in no way saying he's a great coach but like I said when were going poorly in 2012-2014 Price never even turned up and faced the music he just hid in the background that's totally spineless IMO.

Great..I'm happy he spoke to you...did you ask him why Aitken never gets Dropped ?

Why Lomax has played 5 different positions this year.

Why we have only won 2 of the last 12 games.

Why we always falter the 2nd half of the season...this year we have faltered all year ...........

Why he thinks tries from kicks don't count...

Why he thinks we were only 86 mins away from the G.F...

I think you get my gist.

And did you ask him why he considers his record a success, whether any other club would employ him as a first grade coach and since he bleeds red and white, why he doesn't do the right thing and resign?
