You have scared me into agreeing with you Old Timer. You are tough like Frank Facer who used to put his mouthgard in with
Vaseline when he played at Norths with my
uncle John Niddrie. John Moz must be shaking in his boots as he fails to disclose the latest rumour.

I would love to boycott the games as long as Mary is coach but I am on the wrong side of 50 and need to see the team play before I'm carted off to the dementia ward saying Sack Mary

Sorry fellas, what makes you think Mary won't see out the season even if we lose the first 8 games? By sacking him management will have to admit that their great appointed committee has failed. Unfortunately, I see Mary getting an extension with the excuse being that Mary and the committee need time to succeed.

I still stand by my prediction that we will have one win after the first six rounds, irrespective of who we draw.
Don't disagree with your prediction J Mc J but if we draw 6 teams from the 2016 top 8 and win 1 game Mary will be able to deflect.
That's why I think the draw is essential in evaluating whether he could get the chop after 6-8 games.

The problem is that McGregor is so close to the players that the players feel that they do not have to perform to keep their places.
Hopefully with Marshall and Rein gone the attack? will be aimed at the try line as opposed to being totally disjointed and all over the place but not towards the try line.
The recent arrival of Sims and addition of
Masoe and Vaughan should bolster our forwards as they are string forwards that run straight. The selection of Hutchison, Mann, Milne and Mac Donald should improve the
the scoring potential of our backline. Dufty and Herbert will be waiting in the wings.

Players don't perform badly when they are close to the coach, that's a ridiculous comment. Players perform for a liked and respected coach. That's why the Shirees won the comp, they like and respect Flanagan and want to play their best footy for him. If we accept your argument, wouldn't Smith, Cronk, Slater and co play crap under Bellamy? They are all best buddies.
It was glaringly obvious that at the back end of the season, McGregor had lost the players, there was NO respect for the coach.
And that will continue into next season unless McGregor lets the players play footy and loosens the stranglehold on the attack. How many times last season, when the game was lost, did we see them throw the ball around and score great tries? Then, the following week, back to structures that destroyed our attack.
Please do not put ANY blame on the players. We had and have a roster capable of making the 8 every year. What we don't and won't have, is a coach capable of guiding them to the top 8. Simple as that!

Just noticed that this thread was not at the top.

It's funny ( or sad ) , but if McExit was not coach and we had JD , I would be really looking forward to 2017.
Smurf, you're on the money. I'm reading posts on here laying blame on players as well as McGregor. That's just bullshit! We have a good roster and, as you say, if JD was coaching next year, we would have something to look forward to.

The scary thing is I actually could see them extending Mary based on what they have done up until now.

Agree. That is what worries me. Fail = McGregor and the committee need time Pass = was it the committee or McGregor. Still no action to have the killer instinct week in and week out. As mentioned, the players ( like me) cannot stand McGregor's arrogance and blame/ excuse games. Everything positive about the club has been dissolved. I cannot see McGregor going anywhere while there is a contract in place at least.

Look at the 11 in a row history.

Captain coaches led the Team and the results are in the history pages. Provan loved all and was close to all the players but he was a leader with high morals and a high work ethic that brought out the respect and the best in everyone. Why? He did what great leaders do. He led from the front and he stood tall and took both the glory and the agony. A True Man.

Bennet has the same leadership skills and so did Gibson and so did Harry Bath. And of corse fearless Facer.

McGreedy blames others and makes excuses - - a weak and sad individual who doesn't stand up and looks to blame others just as a weak coward. Who would follow him over the trenches in Gallipoli? I'd rather follow a squirrel.

God help our mighty dragons because nothing else now will save the corruption and weakness but a return to true men and true moral integrity.

I am not sure that morals and NRL are words that can be put in the same sentence these days.
Very few clean skins in this game anymore.
What we need is a coach with high level skills in numerous areas and has a "very good ear" to make sure the orchestra so to speak stays in tune.
Mary has few skills, a tin ear, hears nothing and listens to no one.

If you use all the letters out of this thread title "Sack McGregor" you can make the following words,

ar$e.
cameo.
ego.
scam.

Enough said.
I just can't help myself so apologies in advance...

...you can also make a word starting with c and ending in ck with the missing letter being a vowel...and now there's enough said.

MattoDragon a good coach gets results. McGregor seldom makes the right selections
and tactical moves. I believe he was scared of Marshall and would not drop him.

What I find so hard to fathom is that the Dragons were negotiating with both Marshall
and Rein to extend their contracts despite their erratic form. The only thing that saved us from having to put up with them again in 2017 is that both were greedy and wanted ridiculous money. I am so glad they are gone. Hopefully other non-performers will be let go at the end of 2017 and hopefully the coach earlier.

Gibson....high morals?
Lol

Pleaae read my post properly before you judge John-boy - nobody seems to know the English language anymore. What I said was Provan had high morals and I will argue that with anyone because he is an amazing man - I met him many many times. My dad and he were close.

I then said of provan as a leader - that he led from the front and stood up and accepted both the criticism and the glory. I said Gibson, Bath and Bennett did the same as leaders. I make that statement on what I saw them do publicly.

I was also demonstrating factual evidence of how coaches can be close to their players.

OT - sadly your correct on my broader dream and it is in business and all aspects of life. Seems saints have taken even that to a whole new level of corruption. What has happened to the good people?

Too funny.
'Pleaae'...spare me the English lesson and go back over your own post...lol.
My comment was in relation to Jack Gibson. A known standover man for SP bookies and associate of certain criminal elements.
No argument with Norm Provan.

I think if I am not mistaken Jack was the bookie and he had standover men collecting for him namely 2 props 1 from Easts and 1 from the Dragons.

Ha...not at all but if you're going to have a crack at people about their English comprehension skills, you might want to proof read your own post first.
Now you've made this about the English language and not Jack Gibson's moral compass. Nothing to dispute about the legendary Norm Provan.
Not getting the John Boy references. Anyway, no drama...let's move on, hey?
