St George Illawarra can confirm the club's Board of Directors convened on Tuesday morning to discuss the future of coach Paul McGregor, following the Dragons' poor start to the 2020 season.

The Dragons' board have confirmed McGregor will continue on as St George Illawarra coach.

"Although the board acknowledges the club's performances so far throughout 2020 have been unacceptable; we will continue to support Paul, his staff and the team through these tough times," Dragons Chairman Andrew Gordon said.

"We are committed to Paul as coach of the St George Illawarra Dragons and look forward to seeing him right the wrongs of the opening month of the current campaign.

"We are a club that stands by our people when under pressure. This is a time for loyalty, strength and commitment from the players, coach, board and staff to improve."

The Dragons will be making no further comment regarding McGregor at this stage.

it does take a bit of practise. But the more dragons matches you watch, the more flexible you become.
Was it the Price and brown eras where you got your nickname rubberman for your ability to kick yourself in the nuts and ass at the same time?

What a complete crock of shit, "stand by our people". Spare me. The people you need to stand with are the fans, THEY are dragons people. THEY play a huge part in keeping the joint alive.

Also, the statement is at complete odds with every assistant and player that Mary has burned through. Where was the loyalty shown to them?

It was that one you and I went to...

There are babies being had today that weren’t even conceived last time we won.
It's only two wins over the last 12 months, and those were against the Titans the eventual wooden spooners.

The reports say we are 0-4 for 2020. Try 2-14 since round 16, 2019.

Eight wins in 2019. ie since February 2019, and most of those were over 12 months ago.

McGregor's position as head coach is impossible to defend. The time of debating is well over. And yet, the board chose to keep him.

I feel the dragons weren’t completely honest in their statement.

Allow me to translate it for you all:

Dragons statement: Paul McGregor
Translation: “We just banged something together to stop the phone calls from fans & media“

Translation: “Please, do share this on social media. Our digi just quit after copping the brunt of fan anger & we don’t know how to FaceTok”

St George Illawarra can confirm the club's Board of Directors convened on Tuesday morning to discuss the future of coach Paul McGregor, following the Dragons' poor start to the 2020 season.
Translation: “The board were copping too much flack via sms last night from their mates”

The Dragons' board have confirmed McGregor will continue on as St George Illawarra coach.
Translation: “We realised we didn’t include a performance clause in the contract”

"Although the board acknowledges the club's performances so far throughout 2020 have been unacceptable; we will continue to support Paul, his staff and the team through these tough times," Dragons Chairman Andrew Gordon said.
Translation: “We need to show he’s been given every possible avenue of help so he can’t go us for wrongful dismissal”

"We are committed to Paul as coach of the St George Illawarra Dragons and look forward to seeing him right the wrongs of the opening month of the current campaign.
Translation: “We’re trapped & cant get rid of him. But he should win a game soon. Hopefully”
"We are a club that stands by our people when under pressure. This is a time for loyalty, strength and commitment from the players, coach, board and staff to improve."
Translation: “We believe in commitment. Unless that commitment involves our best players cutting short their contracts to go play union in France or head to the ESL”

The Dragons will be making no further comment regarding McGregor at this stage.
Translation: “Now sod off, you peasants. We’ve got whiskey to drink and cigars to smoke”

I've always said that I'd support Saints through thick and thin. And have done since 1968. Well, this current crop of players, board and coaching staff are a little too thick for me. Frank Facer wouldn't p*$$ on a single one of them if they were on fire.

AFL resumes next week. Go Saints!

The one & only last glimmer of hope, is that he has the full support of the Board.
In normal NRL club’s history, that generally translates to he’s gone and has 2 weeks while plans unfold from within for a seamless take over.
With our mob, nothing is normal except being comfortable in a uncomfortable pigs trough.

We all call for the coaches head but how does Millward keep slipping under the radar all the time? seriously the bloke leaves train wrecks everywhere, has decimated the roster, cut deals, promised the world and continues to get away almost unscathed. shows how bad the coach is that a bloke like Millward slips under the radar after how many years!!! We know that the system at the Dragons was set up that recruitment was to be taken off the coaches hands and put into Millwards so surely this bloke must be on the chopping block also? interesting another case of jobs for the boys as I understand that Dousts resigned him as a parting jester when he left.. You couldnt make this stuff up.
