I work for a company that is results driven
1 senior boss had the knack of achieving great results for 2 years constantly. The following year not so great but due to the previous years was cut some slack after 3 months. He thought he was irreplaceable. Come the 4th month he was out on his ears as the board thought he couldn’t step up. Now this guy was eating around 5-600 grand a year and had a lot of contacts in the industry yet the minute the board felt no we can’t go further with him they launched him out the door.

What is it with this McGregor the SGI board sees that no one else can see. I am baffled that he has 1- Was appointed as a coach in the 1st instance.

2- that he has been rewarded with 2 contract extensions on what results.

I would like to ask the board under what guidelines they use is it that you decide what coach can improve and get results

Mary is not a good coach but he is well and truly better than Steve Price which goes to show how bad he was he was some of his "Priceless" moments.

1) Inherited a good squad who were instilled with the culture Bennett left he instead changes that so they play Dragons footy where they had no attack, no defence and we're boring and uninspiring to watch.

2) Played Chase Stanley at 5/8.

3) Played Fien at Halfback (no disrespect to Fien great player) but was a better hooker and signed Josh Drinkwater as his replacement despite being 18 and never played FG before thinking he would solve our Halves problem after he got rid of another legend in Soward and never signed a replacement for Hornby.

4) Signed Tim Moltzen (who never turned up)

5) Played Joel Thompson off the bench.

6) Kept playing Prior at centre (No disrespect to Prior) but prop/2nd row has always been his best position.

7) Played Kyle Stanley off the bench as a hooker (he is a 5/8) after missing 2 full seasons through injury.

This is all off the top of my head he did countless other brainless things he never made the 8 once and turned our great side into a rabble, he also had to be the most boring and mundane talker ever! No wonder the players felt so uninspired playing under him. To be fair to Mary he did a good job turning this team around, the problem is he has overstayed his welcome and overtime proven he is out of his depth.

Well said. My two bobs worth is I think there is a perception among the Dragons board that only people who are seeped in 'Dragons Culture' can manage the club and successfully coach the football team. It ignores the fact that time has moved on from the golden era of the sixties and the game has evolved into a multi million dollar professional sport that requires a hard nosed business approach . They broke briefly with this obsession from 2009 to 2011 when Bennett swept in with his own staff, brought key players in like Jeremy Smith, Darius Boyd, Neville Costigan etc, and jagged us a premiership in his second year. Our club history is something to be proud of, but it shouldn't override professionalism.

Its the same problem with the people that bought a LADA. 0 km's on the clock, cheap and always breaking down. Thats OK if you only need it to get the job done 50% of the time.

I’m dying on the inside.

I don’t think there has been a poorer coach in the NRL... bear in mind the time he has had and the roster we have.

Are the players sending a message? Play poorly to assist with the termination of Mary?

What are the assistant coaches doing???

There needs to be an investigation NOW.

This board is actually pathetic. The fact that this useless head coach, who is literally achieved nothing except a 48-18 win over the Broncos in finals week 1, was re-signed after 6 rounds? You have to be kidding me? No club is that stupid to pull of crap like this.
Mary is the favorite son of this organization.....and who cares how the fans feel about the situation.We're the suffering fools
