“Tries from kicks” is something so rare, they are a complete novelty in the game and should result in a penalty try for the defending team and be placed on report.

They are so radical, scientists from nasa are being sent here to see if the principle can be applied to long distance space journeys, centuries into the future.

The public excuses for the players just adds to their sense of entitlement and belief that it’s ok to put in half efforts, miss vital tackles and be happy after yet another flogging.

Hunt tries his guts out and ends up in group therapy and frizelle is probably in talks with the dogs for a spot on in their Reggie’s.

Here it is Saturday morning and usually one would be enthusiastic about the weekend footy, and reading about and looking forward to some games but for me now its just a numbness deep inside...Im past angry and disappointed about this season and that we wont be playing finals footy and think to myself whats the point nothings going to change. ....then reality takes over again and I think about 2020 and 21 and think at my age thats a life sentence.....in short McGregor piss of now and take the clowns that put you there with you

Paul McGregor admits St George Illawarra have attitude problem after latest loss

Five days after boldly declaring St George Illawarra can still win the NRL premiership, besieged coach Paul McGregor downgraded his Dragons to a mathematical chance of making the 2019 NRL finals.

McGregor's men were mauled by the resurgent Penrith Panthers who piled on five unanswered tries in 22 minutes to put the contest beyond doubt on the hour mark on Friday night.

The Dragons have now lost three on the trot and nine of their past 11 games to sit in 14th spot on the ladder, four points adrift of eighth spot.

"Mathematically we can, yeah, and I still believe that we can," McGregor said when asked if the Saints, who were among the pre-season premiership favourites, can make the top eight.

"But again, like I said last week, there's a long way to go.

"It's down to now winning every game or winning six of our next seven.

"We're making it hard for ourselves, especially with performances in the second half like that."

A clearly shattered McGregor promised team changes at his post-match press conference after conceding their collective attitude wasn't up to standard against the Panthers.

"I think it's a compounding thing with a bit of self-belief and a bit of doubt, a bit of trust at different stages with people that you're with out there," he said when asked to explain his side's dramatic losing slide.

"It does break your heart, it hurts. It hurts for our supporters, it hurts for the coach, it hurts for some players.

"But attitude is something that, the greatest power a player has is the power to choose and you can choose what sort of attitude you have, and it's valuable to your footy team.

"And you've got to have it when everything's going well and you've got to have it at tough times.

"And at the moment when times are tough, we've got to have a better attitude."

McGregor added of the mounting criticism and calls from furious Dragons fans for his sacking: "I don't take things personally there, I understand (the criticism) when the team's not performing the way we need to at the moment.

"We've had above level distractions and no element of luck during the year and we haven't had our strongest 17 on (the field) but we shouldn't be beaten by scores that we've been beaten the last couple of weeks.

"So I understand that, as a coach I'm the leader so aim up on me and leave my players alone a little bit."

What a martyr...If he's such a leader, do the right thing and hand in your resignation............

I was just going to add for Mr Warabrook that over at the west tigers, our recruitment staff, management have spent the last 6 months planning for the 2014 season.

Benji might so happen to play next year so we are busy offloading Reynolds now on the off chance benji will kick on. Young benji is taking the full five days to even stand up after a game these days, by his own admission.

So if benji goes, we have sold off grub for beer money ( meeting the expensive balance of his contract) and have to play a rookie.

We have otherwise flushed a couple of hundred g (at least) of precious cap space down the khazi

I bet Mary and Madge are good mates.

The more I think about it the less I blame McGregor because I was caught up in the initial domination of the Dragons at the beginning of the last two seasons. The crime is signing up McGregor early this year and not cleaning house.

I submit that there is a certain personality type, predominate in the Western world that believes the dollar justifies the means. Everything is monteized and they would happily sell the Great Barrier Reef coral for a one off profit. Think of the vacuum sucking up money. We view the club through old memories, good times and a sense of history but on the other side you have these bugs that are only thinking of the flow of money from our pockets to theirs.

When our team is on the up, it can be bearable but I now believe that the owners knew that McGregor didn't have the goods but thought he could keep the fans hoping for a final 8 spot for the next two years. They knew he couldn't do it but figured the different revenue streams and profits would keep flowing in based on that hope. Instead of investing in the club they want to suck out all the dollar potential out of it.

It really is time to boycott the clubs, the merchandise and the games.

One thing I hate more in life than this current situation with the Dragons is those wanks that have a good idea but want others to execute it. I live overseas or I'd try to organize boycott flyers outside of the home games, etc. That being said my suggestion is to turn this thread into one of positivity. To wit:

I propose that going forward, instead of posting how mad we are post that instead of watching the Dragons get humilated under Mary we post when we take our kids to the park instead, or our wives to a great place to eat. Sometimes we have to get the anger off our chest so maybe impossible not to post about how Mary needs a mushroom print or two but as positive as we can make it while demonstrating there is life outside of sending our money the bugs way is an idea.

Put the dollar amount in the post. Instead of paying $XXX for tickets and a feed at the game I spent better time with my family. Instead of going to one of the clubs I went to the RSL or the Sailing Club instead and spent $XXX. No season tickets for 2020 WIN Corp, I spent the money on a ticket to Fiji, etc.

Here. I'll start already. Instead of watching next weeks humiliating loss against Souths I'm going to convince my olds to cancel their St. George Leagues club membership and while the game is on I'll have a better time defrosting my fridge.

Can anyone tell me what Crawley has done for the joint since he came on board besides having his brother keep the wolves at bay.

Obviously the only holistic he has brought in is in our defence as in holes.Cant wait to see his brother goes all litigious in the press when his brother gets the sack !
Seriously what is the coaching staff costing us , 1-1.5 mill a year ?

The St George Illawarra Dragons have announced that Mick Crawley will fulfil the role of coaching advisor in 2019 – a holistic role that will encompass the NRL side's coaching program.

Crawley has spent the past 12 years as an NRL assistant coach at the North Queensland Cowboys (2009-11), Newcastle Knights (2012-14) and Canberra Raiders (2007-08, 2015-18).

Crawley has worked alongside veteran mentors Graham Murray, Wayne Bennett and Ricky Stuart in his 35 years spent coaching rugby league.

Crawley was also named the Under-20s Coach of the Year in 2014 while in charge of the minor premiership-winning Knights.

I used to think money was the motivating force behind things, but it’s not really money it’s the resources it commands.

And having some kids, it’s not really a clever financial investment. It’s a lot of fun though!

But I quite enjoy your contributions here.

We will do you guys a straight swap.

We will take Josh Reynolds off you guys at full price and play him as Coach.

You guys can take Mary and do whatever you feel best for your Club with him.

Yes I will admit we are getting the better end of the trade.

My last post was the positive one, this one is back to business.

Before the next game can someone get with the "Straight Outta Kogarah" sign holders and tell them that this year's Dragons are definitely not gangster? They must be someone's nephews, uncles, etc. so let's ask them to put that sign away until we are on the mend.

In the meantime if these guys are Eazy-E / NWA fans suggest they change the sign to "Nutz on Mary's Chin" or "100 games lost but Mary ain't runnin"

What the premature contract extension has inadvertently achieved is to make this fellow comfortable.
Even if he loses every game from now until round 4 of next year two things are certain.
1. He will still pick up his pay cheque every month.
2. If he gets sacked, he will depart with a big payout.
McGregor has become the highest paid reserve grade standard coach in the history of the NRL.
What's truly laughable is that he has managed to do it for 6 long years.
Oh and McGregor's win loss record since the extension now reads 2 and 9
Well done Johnston - genius move renewing McGregor's contract AGAIN.
The thousand loss stare
His eyes are a world away.

You can tell he’s experiencing severe depression and doesn’t need this pressure anymore.

He’d be the happiest gear steward in the nrl.
The Ch9 camera focused on him briefly in the 2nd half as the Penrith score ticked over. The look on his face made me almost felt sorry for him.....Almost.

6.42Seconds into the confrence :
Mary: Aim up on me and leave my players alone, a little bit....
Perfect combination of inept and self-aggrandizing. Sums up this fkn moron.

You can't deflect attention from the players by MENTIONING THE PLAYERS.

And if you tell people you're doing it, then youre doing it only to make yourself look better.

Sack this prick.

I consider myself a very staunch supporter (who has been calling for his sacking since an inept Manly flogged us in 2016) but I have found myself really questioning my commitment to the club that ignores its fans and is, to put bluntly, run very unprofessionally.

I am a loyal person, who can cop a lot. It makes me wonder how many fans have been lost the last few years. Our statistics have been decimated and the next stop will be even lower crowds and then being forced to die or relocate all over again.

I realise one win can do a lot to turn this around but that seems a mile away.

That's now only 10 wins from our past 28 games.
Absolutely pathetic and gutting for us supporters.
Can only imagine how most of the players feel.
What about our 2nd half of year win / loss records since 2014?..say from Round 10-26 or 25
If you want to research, we may be 16th in this stat....and some journo should fire that stat back at Mary..
But he will just reply "OFINOP" "our future is not our past"
