Sounds like a heap of BS to me. Why would Mamo go to Saints when he would be first choice fullback here and be behind Dugan there and behind Morris and Nightingale for a wing spot. Would Bennett even return there, he and Dousts relationship seemed to have broken down rather badly.

If this is true, the immediate release part makes me think it's the Bulldogs and they want him to help their campaign for this season. The money thing has been going on for months and he looked pretty happy last night so I doubt his 3rd party stuff would suddenly cause such an issue over night.

More likely the Dogs have worked through the fine print but need the Knights to release him. They're still a chance this year, but can't do anything without a proper fullback. Other clubs he's been linked to in Canberra and Titans are done for the season so I don't think he'd be screaming for an immediate release to go to either of them right now.

If we are run by the NRL, and they release one of our star players to Greenburg's club (the same club that gets off at the judiciary every time)....

I don't think anyone from the NRL would be involved in that decision. Too much of a conflict of interest. I say they'll let Midley make that call if this is true.

And why would Midley do it? Our season is shot no advantage to us to releasing him, and even if dogs offer $$$ we don't need it.

Why should we give another team a huge leg up to win the premiership?

If he wants to chuck a hissy fit we can sit him for the rest of the year. Make him trot out for Kurri if he wants to play for the bulldogs.

Well it's all conjecture if this is even the case, but if it is then I certainly see no reason why we'd release him. Like you said we have absolutely nothing to gain from it...unless of course they were willing to part with a good prop so at least we know we have one for next year...but obviously they wouldn't do that with their season still alive.

I really just don't think in that situation the NRL would use their position to force us into releasing him early.

Release him with a clause that whoever signs him pays us all the money we have spent on him, plus give us a player of equal value.

If Wayne takes mamo I'll lose any respect I had for him and he would just be a selfish merkin in my eyes.

The benefit is we don't have to pay him for the rest of this year and next.

1) we can front load contracts
2) we can sign someone who doesn't treat the club like a joke.

Exactly.

Which current international is Mamo going to knock out of the back three?

Even if Boyd moved to the halves, which of Benji and Widdop would get shafted from their big-money multi-year contract?

It doesn't make sense.

Losing a prospect like Mamo would hurt and quite frankly be stupid if the club allows/has allowed for the scenario to occur. We let Kev go because we had Jake coming through and if he goes we have very little quality stocks as far as fullbacks go

I dont think Boyd would be going to the Dragons, just Mamo

Dugan is currently playing in the centres with Quinlan at fullback. I guess its possible that Mamo could take his spot but its a stretch for a young guy with limited FG under his belt

Yeah, it looks like Boyd or Wayne have cut the umbilical cord if whispers are to be believed. It's not like Quinlan is established and yeah - for some reason everyone seems to see Dugan as a centre now... so Dragons wouldn't surprise me too much. Still, you've got Widdop and Bunji to fit in there somewhere too, yeah.

Can we make Sione into a fullback, out of interest? We might see him get a run in first grade soon, just turned 18 a few days ago I think.

Will be Gagai to fullback and Sione to centre if it came to that

Wayne will be pushed out before he walks in my view. Every article u read on it suggests as much. The distractions of this last year become even more apparent when Wayne says th club is a day to day proposition mangement wise until the new entity takes over. Wests will be looking at how the Knights brand can make them money. This is not about charity. They will not give a toss whether Wayne has an issue with that over the profit margins. The fact he is only contracted till the end of this year now according to the Sydney Herald means the NRL have drawn a line in the sand.

There are rumours that Boyd's issues stretch further than just some 3rd party deals and playing for a losing team. A fresh start somewhere could be about more than a few bucks and not wanting to play for Stoney.
