As I've said in another thread, Gidley won't be going anywhere until he wants to. The only hate he gets is on this forum.

Some older, experienced players are just protected species out there, like Benji was last year, like Ennis, Terry Campese, Ben Smith, Braith Anasta, Chris Lawrence, etc.

Like can we have Mullen?

Kind of be happy if he stays a one club player, but if he leaves can we have him, put with Carney...

carnon.

Good first stint but terrible in the second. People are overreacting though. He'll improve and I can see him being a real asset when he's fully fit and has Mullen back controlling the team.

I don't get the hate for him being selfish either, he tries too hard which has always been his problem, but the guy would do anything for the club (including constantly swapping positions on the coaches orders) and for that he'll always have my respect.

He hasn't shown anything at all so far, and you could argue he has never really shown much apart from when he was fullback. Love to be optimistic but look at his skillset, his age, injury history and the runs on the board and it's very hard to see where the improvement is going to come from

If Mullo leaves the club I will dead set find it hard to keep watching. I can't imagine it happening... but that would definitely be the dumbest thing the club has ever done.

I never got why you guys loved him so much and justified his inclusion in origin when everyone else in nsw thought it was a joke.

He shouldn't be picked first in any position in your team.

That's one thing we DON'T have to worry about

If Mullen goes anywhere (which is hard to believe in the first place) the only team I'd support the decision would be Wests Tigers due to my huge soft spot for the club. Also the idea of Mullen, Books and Tedesco makes me a tad wet.

Would be hard to watch as a Knights fan, sure, but I'll adjust....even if it takes a number of years.

Had to watch the replay after I got home and didn't want to depress myself further by reading this thread...

Their captain and hooker scores the winning try while ours gives away dumb penalties one after the other...

Beau Scott = skipper while Mullo is out. The man is a born leader. Gidley to the 14. He just cannot cut it as a dummy half.

Since I've been on the forums the majority of posts I've read about Gidley for origin selection has been that he never played as bad as what people said. Most of us here still never wanted him selected

Supporting a club that rife with the 'jobs for the boys' culture, it's plain that some players are considered untouchable, & Gidley is one.

I think those who think he will 'surely' be dropped, is in for disappointment. IMO he'll play every game he's a available til the end of his contract.

He has shown he can be a good impact hooker, done so on numerous occasions at rep level and as mozza said his first stint last night was good. He needs to be moved to 14 and brought on for 15-20min stints and told to shovel the ball and run when there is space, nothing more.

The captaincy needs to be taken off him first though, he is suffering from the pressure and looks genuinely frustrated. It may be a bitter pill to swallow initially but it can only improve his game.

I think there is some poo coloured glasses being worn in this thread. He is capable of better and we have seen it. Its just a matter of providing the circumstances to bring it out again

He was a good dummy half runner in when he was in his 20s and before all the injuries, he's now 32 and had a long list of injuries, that's a big factor

I appreciate everyones passion. We all have one thing in common - We love our team and want them to do well. I'm amazed that "fans" of a "team" would rubbish one of their own.

Interested to know how many on this forum have been involved in a team environment on a professional sporting or military level and still feel the need to hammer this bloke?

Personally I would never even think about bagging one of my own. A guy who lives , breaths and bleeds red and blue more than any arm chair critic wannabee keyboard punching nobody an a forum .

I would be very surprised if he was dropped , if he was going to be dropped he would of got the tap during his injury downtime. One of Australian sports greatest coaches has faith in the man and knows its more than just what he does on the field.
