Saltwater - Julian Lennon
Songbird - Eva Cassidy
Never Tear Us Apart - Inxs (have to agree. Since Hutchence died, this one becomes even more haunting)

Estranged - Guns N Roses
My Immortal - Evanescence, I agree with whoever said that one.
Feelin - Van Halen
A Year To The Day - Van Halen

Maybe the saddast ever......... The end of ROCKET QUEEN - Guns N Roses

I see you standing
Standing on your own
It's such a lonely place for you
For you to be
If you need a shoulder
Or if you need a friend
I'll bee here standing
Until the bitter end
No one needs the sorrow
No one needs the pain
I hate to see you
Walking out there
Out in the rain
So don't chastise me
Or think I, I mean you harm
Of those that take you
Leave you strung out
Much too far
Baby-yeah

INSERT SAD SOLO HERE

Don't ever leave me
Say you'll always be there
All I ever wanted
Was for you
To know that I care

Awesome song, ever seen the clip? Slash rising out of the ocean is the greatest thing ever in a video clip.

Rocket Queen IMO is the best of the non-hit songs off Appetite For Destruction, such an awesome intro. Never really thought of it as being sad though.

Munky,

Yeah the clip is great, Agree Slash looks very cool coming up out of the water.

On Rocket Queen, I agree an awsome song, one of the best of appetite but such a great album I could never pick a single best.

Youve never thoguht of it as sad? The end of the song where it has a distinct change and those lyrics I posted are sung. Ive always loved that part of the song in a sad way. I always pictured someone out in the rain on there own.....I dont know, for me it was sad.

I love that about music, it can make people feel different things and can have a meaning for one person thats different for another. We will all have our own favourites because of that.

Primordial - The Coffin Ships

Young hearts born with grief
Shall pay the penalty of truth
A season of stolen youth
Shall teach old hearts to break

It feels like I've been here before
Here to where the animals lay down to die
So we stood alone on a distant store
Our broken spirits in rags and tatters

Nerve and muscle, heart and brains
Lost to Ireland, lost in vain
Pause and you can almost hear
The sounds echo down through the ages
The creak of the burial cart
Here in humiliation and sorrow
Not mixed with indignation
One is driven to exclaim
Oh god, that bread should be so dear
And human flesh so cheap

Young hearts are born with such grief
We have paid the penalty of truth
A season of our stolen youth
Shall teach our hearts to break

damn those Irishmen sure know how to pen a mournful tune....

Harry Chapin - Flowers are Red
Joseph Arthur - Honey and the Moon (I dunno why I find this one sad, it just seems mournful, even if the words aren't)
Elliott Smith - The Biggest Lie

While the majority of Elliott's music is sad, this one just gets to me. His voice is just so raw in it. You can hear the pain. So sad.

When Hurricane Katrina hit they put Greendays Wake me up when september ends to some images of the devastation. That was pretty sad

no arguments there, its one of my two favourite janes addiction songs (the other one is summertime rolls which has the total opposite effect - it always makes me happy)

Losing Grip-Avril Lavigne, it was my song to my ex bf. It took me a year to be able to listen to it without crying
Car Underwater-Armor for sleep, I always think about this guy that i've been involved with on/off for the last 2 years when I hear this song, gets me all teared up and angry!
With or Without you-U2, It just makes me sad and stirs up memories of people

There's a lot more, but I don't wanna bore people more then I have already

There's two types of music that I normally won't have bar of - country, and anything with female vocals. However, there's one song that transcends this hate of mine:

Brad Paisley & Alison Krauss - Whiskey Lullaby
