Danzig - going down to die

and i know
that it's true
all the fire
has burned thru
well you know i've played
so hard
and the light
grows so dim
and my time's getting slim
all the words
just don't mean much
and i know i'm saying
goodbye
and i know that i'm going
down
to die
in my heart there's a wind
and it swirls up a din
it's so loud
it drowns my mind
till the coin that i pass
to the ferryman's grasp
lets me leave
my pain
behind
so i part
and i'm oh so cold
and i hope to release
my heart
better leave
while my song still calls
it's the truth
that i'm going
down
to die

Without a doubt the saddest song I've ever heard is
I want you by Elvis Costello ....

the wall (whole double album) by Pink Floyd is depressing , I love it on a rainy grey winters day.

All alone or in twos
the ones who really love you,
walk up and down outside the wall
Some hand in hand, and some gathered together in bands
the bleeding hearts and arteests make their stand
and when they’ve given all
some stagger and fall, after all
it’s not easy banging your heart
against some mad bugger's wall.

These Days by Powderfinger isn't good for depression I can tell ya

It's a cover. Not a PJ original, I forget the artists name though :? ??????

I don't know about 'SAD', but I find some great depressive moments in the solos in Gunners - Novermber Rain and Opeth - A Fair Judgement. Also the tracks 'Retrovertigo' and 'Pink Cigarette' by Mr Bungle have a very depressive atmosphere/lyrics IMO.

Last Kiss was a sappy song by the Everley brothers, I think. Or Jan and Dean?

Sad song - Sail On by the Commodores:

Sail on down the line
About half a mile or so
Don't really wanna know where you're going
Maybe once or twice
Time after time I tried
To hold on to what we got
But now you're going
And I don't mind about the things you're gonna sail on
I give all my money and my time
I know it's a shame
But I'm giving you back your name
Yes, I'll be on my way
I won't be back to stay
I guess I'll move along
I'm looking for a good time

Sail on down the line
Funny how the time can go
Friends says they told me so but it doesn't matter
It was plain to see
That a small town boy like me
Just wasn't your cup of tea
I was wishful thinking
I gave you my heart and I tried to make you happy
And you gave me nothing in return
You know it ain't so hard to say
Would you please just go away
I've thrown away the blues
I'm tired of being used
I want everyone to know
I'm looking for a good time
Good time

Sail on honey
Good times never felt so good

Guns N Roses - Estranged
Type O Negative - Red Water
Blutengel - Angel Of The Night
Blutengel - Seelenschmerz
Blutengel - I'm Dying Alone
Offspring - Gone Away (Ok, I admit it, I like an Offspring song  )
Terminal Choice - Eiszeit (not really a sad song, but the chorus is depressing, you have to hear it)
L'Ame Immortelle - Another Day (the epoch of sadness!)
Closterkeller - What Will Be Will Be

Shihad-Home Again

Hmm I don't reckon its "sad". But its definetly Shihad's most emotional song.

That and Pacifier strike a chord within you thats for sure.
