PARRAMATTA is facing a fine of up to $500,000 for salary cap breaches.
The NRL has confirmed this morning the Eels have been under investigation for several months.
It relates to their salary cap last year and having to pay players who were cut by previous coach Ricky Stuart.
Among those who were forced out include Ben Smith, Matt Keating and Cheyse Blair.
It is believed the club is still paying part of their contracts.
Err....not sure why BA should be sacked for Sticky and the previous boards mess, but ok
Seward knew they had cap issues when they signed watmough
Maybe that's what they didn't kick a stink when Hayne wanted to break his contract

the issues relate to last year, not this year

THE embattled Parramatta Eels are facing a whopping $500,000 fine for salary cap breaches.
According to News Limited, the NRL have been investigating the club for several months due to matters involving their salary cap last season.
It is believed the club are still paying the contracts of trio Ben Smith, Matt Keating and Cheyse Blair – who were all cut by former coach Ricky Stuart.
Both the NRL and the Eels will release statements later today on the matter.
The findings of the investigation could impact the deals of Kieran Foran and Beau Scott who will link with the club in 2016.
These findings stem from an audit into the club’s books at the beginning of the year.
Things couldn’t get any worse for the club right now who sit dead last on the competition ladder with just three wins from 10 games.
it clearly says that
On a complete side note, but salary cap related, I'm guessing with the statement made when the team was announced this week that Bureta Faraimo was unavailable due to "2nd tier cap compliance" that when Kelly played last week that we have already exhausted our 2nd tier cap.
So will this mean that at some point we will have to put Sandow and Paulo back in the team? Can someone with a better understanding of the 2nd tier cap elaborate.
Sharp has been in power since 2103
Would have been there when Stuart sacked the players and they would had had plenty of time to realise they we're is cap shit when they signed the players for 2015

Parramatta's disappointing season is expected to be dealt another blow on Thursday when they are set to be fined heavily over breaches of the salary cap.
The Eels, running last on the NRL ladder, have been under the microscope of salary cap auditor Jamie L'Oste Brown over breaches of the cap last year.
Parramatta's issues centre on payments that continued to be made to players after they had left the club, a predicament that came to light last July.
Fairfax Media reported then that the Eels were shelling out more than $750,000 to players who had departed the club, which impacted both their top-tier and second-tier salary caps.
Eels chief executive Scott Seward said then that their cap problems had restricted their recruitment plans, although they have since gone on to sign Manly and New Zealand international Kieran Foran.
"We're probably still compromised in 2015 and we're only really coming out of it in 2016," Seward said. "That's not to say we're not going to be in the market but there's going to be some hard decisions that have to be made and you won't see the Eels out there having major splashes for marquee players because we just can't fit them in. And that's no one's fault but the club's. We're frustrated we can't take those big steps forward because we've got to fix the issues."
