As an NRL fan I hate it when a team is successful and then proven to be over the salary cap. It makes a mockery of all they achieved....oh wait.....never mind.

So basically we were like this on the ladder:

2011 LAST (until the final round, then snuck out with a huge win to jump 2 spots to 3rd last)
2012 LAST
2013 LAST
2014 10th (missed the 8 by failing to win one of last 2 games, but were $500k over the cap)
2015 LAST (currently)

So the only way out of the cellar is for us to spend an extra $500k???? Don't clubs normally cheat to have a title shot? We're cheating just to avoid the spoon.....

Dogs / storm were stripped of points for hiding payments. We haven't hidden payments just spent more then the cap

We only win 2-3 more games max this year if sandow doesn't play first grade (I've done the math of games we have won without sandow and hayne) so if we get stripped points who cares, we get the spoon anyway. The problem with this news though is it shows how stuck we are with this roster.

Stop being negative mate, things are going great. Onwards and upwards, it's just injuries and bad luck. Wait till we get our players back, we have a coach who gets the best from his players, some great forward leadership at the club and an electrifying backline packed with skill in talent. I'm sick of all these negative nellie's talking our great and successful club down. Go Parra!!!!

Do you think we could afford Hayne this year without breaching the cap?

Yes. If Hayne didn't leave we wouldn't have signed Champion, Taka etc, and we wouldn't have had the ability to front load contract extensions for players renewed in 2015. We may have ended out off-loading an additional player in the offseason, but I see no reason why keeping Hayne necessarily means breaching the 2015 cap.

Why has everyone assumed that we are going to be fined $500k? Because the DT says that we are about to be fined 'up to 500k'? Is that the only source that people are relying on or have I missed something?
