Hopefully, Hiney Ne Jake read this. I don't normally read the Telecrap but , but took the opportunity whilst having a coffee this morning

As far as I can see, all the issues took place under the previous President and CEO, some of the sponsrship decline also due to Ken Edwards demanding the moon as if he was still at Stadium Australia. Whilst we can all acknowledge that some things were handled not as well as they could have been, they were basically carrying put repair jobs from what went on previously.. The club was handed a clean sheet for 2015 and 2016, so at least something was fixed

We may not think Sharp is the answer , but he is straightforward and probably too quick to reply to the media hounds

If there is any indication of what the club has to put up with, Raaaay briefly mentioned the new NRL CEO would be Greenberg, and then launched into a 7 minute tirade about the Eels, again suggesting that his mate should come in.

If there has to be a change at board level to stop these creeps slamming the club, then most of us would support it, but I somehow don't think that will happen - they are too self absorbed for that to occur

Also the sort of frenzy these things bring, the board was under fire for not appealing Manu's sentence, that would be decided by BA and possibly Andrson, but they get blamed for everything these days

So, in a nutshell, if moving the board would bring peace in our time , it gets a yes,but they shouldn't just take the fall for what went on under Spags/Seward and the ongoing campaign. It's all too obvious where it's coming from

I think most people are in agreement that we need a new board free of the politics and factions. Let's hope that the current board have the decency to step down and put the club first. most of us want the same thing. As for some of the stuff you've written I disagree but can't be bothered to argue those points ATM.

We don't need a new board, we just need the factions to f**k off and leave the board alone.

You know what, I'm starting to think that the current board should hang around...

Hang on Jake, hear me out..

Basically, if a new board were to take over right now, they are going to be bogged down with all the rubbish the board are currently dealing with, which will pretty much handicap cap them for who knows how long.

Once we get a clean bill of health from the NRL, and have no more crap to answer for, that is the only time that a new board could be truly effective. Having to deal with inherited problems has been an issue at Parra for near on a decade, so I think that any new board coming in to run the club needs to do so with a completely clean slate, with assurances from the NRL that the past is done with, and there are no issues remaining, i.e. no more skeletons in the closet that can be dredged up in an attempt to destabalise the new board. It would also give them no excuses should they run into trouble, you can't blame problems of the past if they are all resolved.

When you think about it, the board can't really do any more damage now, given the massive magnifying glass they are operating under, so better off they get all the old problems sorted, so that, should the members decide a new board is needed at the next election, they can start fresh. It will also hamper any efforts from the has-beens and also-rans from making trouble for them, as Jake himself has said before, they can't bring up shady dealings if there aren't any left.

Can you send a link to the article in the Tele that makes this all clear please?

Jake - how an you say we are in need of a new Board when the NRL haven't even made a statement about all the crap that has appeared in the press - crap that has been fuelled by Raaay and his (big ego driven) mate.
Jake, with all due respect let's live in the real world for a while and respond to facts -- not fiction. Even if JC was to be our Chairman this problem will not go away until a certain former CEO leaves this planet!!!

Below is a statement from Parramatta Eels Chairman, Steve Sharp:

The story in today’s Daily Telegraph regarding fees for Parramatta Eels Directors is wrong.

These are the facts:

Directors’ expenses and remuneration are set within the limits and guidelines established by the Members;
Members set these limits and guidelines at the Annual General Meeting;
A benchmarking survey was undertaken in 2014 indicating that Eels Directors were relatively poorly remunerated;
The subsequent increases were made in accordance with the rules and quantum established by the Members;
Many NRL clubs remunerate their Board Directors at levels higher than those for Eels Directors.
This falsehood reveals the lengths some are willing to go to smear the Parramatta Eels. There is a deliberate smear campaign currently underway. This is the latest desperate example of that.

Parramatta has undergone significant reform under the new Board and CEO. Reform we have achieved by working closely with the NRL and with independent experts, like PricewaterhouseCoopers. We are currently implementing 117 governance reforms based on PwC advice.

In respect of the current salary cap investigation, the Eels are assisting the NRL fully. We are also conducting our own investigation.

I say again to our fans that it will take time to solve the administrative problems of the past and to create a new culture of good governance. The new Board and CEO are determined to deliver this for our Members and fans.
