Yes, presumably he was 18th man.

The other bit was the reference to only 16 players being available at one point. I guess the coach at that point has few options, what do you do? Either field a bench of 2, or pick a kid on an NYC contract who earns $10k a year....but you'd still breach the cap.

if you genuinely only have 16 available players then the nrl would let you field someone - if you talk to them about it ...... surely that's open to conjecture atm

Yep, how bad a look would it be if you ran on with 16 players??? if they had been talking with the NRL why did we let it get to that stage???? Unless you are big face there is never a good time to pick Lasalo.

Some of the "cap breaches" are just plain dumb and lacks common sense on behalf of the NRL. The Lasalo matter above and how about this doozy....

The Parramatta Eels took their entire squad to Seattle on a training camp in November but Hayne could not attend because he was supposedly going to play for the Kangaroos in the Four Nations.

Instead the club sent him on his own before he returned home for the Dally M Awards.

The NRL auditors have ruled the airfares and accommodation, worth $15,000, should have been part of the salary cap because he did not go with the rest of the team.

I think we all need another trip to Seattle so we can hone our skills of coming last and kill the salary cap a little more.

What a mess.

I don't understand how we are at risk of losing 4 points NEXT season? Why wouldn't that apply for this year?

On a side note I hear John and Gary on 2UE this morning talk about how Bill Moss wanted in at Parra and we were dumb enough to say no to him.

We are a laughing stock.

I hope this mess brings about better governance for us - it has surely been missing for a long time.

t is understood Parramatta officials reject the suggestion that the club took too long to resolve its salary cap issues — last season alone, the Eels were paying $525,000 of their salary cap for nine players at rival clubs after cutting a swath through their playing ranks in an attempt to cure their cap ills.

Among the players on the club's payroll in 2014 who were playing elsewhere were Reni Maitua (Canterbury), Jacob Loko (Canterbury) and Daniel Harrison (Manly).

The club's current administration rightly asked how the previous administration was able to lodge contracts with the NRL that placed the club in serious cap jeopardy.

After reporting the salary cap issues to the game's governing body, the Eels responded to the NRL’s original allegations in March and heard nothing until yesterday, when the hammer dropped.

“We have been upfront with the NRL. In fact, we were the first to bring these issues to the NRL’s attention,” Seward said.

“The situation as it stands is that with the hard work of our football department and the support of the board we are compliant with the salary cap for the 2015 season, and in good shape for the seasons to come.

“For us, that’s paramount. We are determined to continue strengthening the Eels line-up to maximise our opportunities to succeed.”

What a great contrbutor to our club he is - slamming the club on twitter .

Deserves ever single vote he received... and getting nowhere near the top seven, we virtually are talking about single votes! Oink :sarcasm:
