Can someone tell me how the 2nd tier salary cap works for clubs like the Storm, Broncos, Cowboys etc?
They don't have actual feeder teams like the NSW teams and NZ do they seem to have players playing Qld Cup for different clubs not all for the one club, so is the players contracted to the NRL team that count?
It's just all a bit confusing to me, i'm just a little small business man not a accountant.

And when was Isaac de gois signed and played?

De Gois was an exemption for Peats long term injury so was a 'replacement' into the top 25. In fact I am not sure of the timing but it may have been the reason Loko was pushed out and had the portion we needed to pay the Dogs shifted into the 2nd tier.

Here's the list of new players for 2014:

Evander Cummins (Dragons), Liam Foran (Salford), David Gower (Sea Eagles), Will Hopoate (Mormon mission), Justin Hunt (Rabbitohs), Lee Mossop (Wigan), Corey Norman (Broncos), Nathan Peats (Rabbitohs), Brenden Santi (Tigers), Toby Evans (Panthers), Ben Jones

Of these Hoppa, Mossop, Norman and Peats were signed well back in 2013 (i.e. July at latest) (or 2011 in case of Hoppa) . Cummins, Foran, Evans, Jones were Wenty contracts, never played FG and had no bearing on any cap.

So we are left with Hunt (presumably 2nd tier but maybe not) and Santi (who we shifted back to Wests).

So remind me, what did they do wrong?
You're having me on now right?
If we actually had enough free salary cap space to sign those players after factoring in the ongoing cap cost of paying out those terminations can you remind me why we are we being fined?

Ahh, but that's only because you too have an agenda :lol:
Agenda's agenda's everywhere

Just having enough of us being a laughing stock isn't enough, being critical means we have an agenda or a member of 3p

I note you left out Gower from your argument... Obviously he was signed once BA arrived and contributed heavily to the second tier cap issue last year.

Correct, I missed him. But signing him doesn't affect our 2nd tier issues (if he was 2nd tier). The number of players that we play in FG does.

Did you read my post?

1) Several of the players were signed before we (apparently) knew that the 2014 cap was over (at the latest July 2013, in the case of Peats).

2) Several other players were Wenty contracts, and never played FG, therefore do not count towards any cap.

3) Signing 2nd tier players does not directly contribute to the breach.....playing them does.

4) We would be fined for being over the 2014 cap, regardless of whether we had any new players in 2014.

To summarise, the signings that definitely affected the top tier cap for 2014 are Peats, Norman, Hoppa, Mossop. These signings were fully committed at the latest by July 2013 (by various administrations).

The 2nd tier cap is not affected by how many players you sign. It is simply a matter of how many you play, and what their salary is. Although the release of players to other teams f**ked up our 2nd tier cap, it relieved our top tier cap pressure. E.g. Player X goes from being $200k of our Top 25 cap, to being $80k of our 2nd tier cap (even though not at the club). The net effect is $120k off our cap deficit.

I wonder how much getting IDG affected this as we were really left with no option with Peats and Prichard gone for the season.

Yeah his new found love for the Eels is getting questioned by real fans.

Wish Riddell had won a seat and taken his rightful place on our Board. He could be the director responsible for recruitment and retention.
He believes that what you commit to in one year doesn't impact the following year. I wonder how many 1 year contracts he signed in his career.
Imagine the legal bills.
