I'll repeat. This never happened that way at Souths. You're making excuses for the tactless way Bath handled the situation now. No-one ever said to feel sorry for Sam over it. It's just been pointed out that Bath let him go, got their transfer fee and have then carried on like children. Fair enough if that's how they want to be but know how it reflects upon the individuals involved.

Do you think Mike Ford gives a shit about some comp fee that Bath got? Bruce Craig, with a 300 million fortune, would not give a shit beyond not just throwing money around.

Mike Ford invested his time and energy into Sam Burgess. He said from the start that he thought he was a back row and that's where he would probably play. He provided him invaluable playing time, obviously devoted huge amounts of training to him and other general attention. For this season Bath got rid off a couple of players to keep space for Burgess and planned to have him. Burgess had consistently told him he was staying and was willing to work. Burgess then left in November of a season, coincidentally just after a world cup.

Now me personally, I think Ford was naive to believe all of that. Burgess was in England for a big event, not to learn a new sport. But Ford's disappointment and anger is entirely understandable.

How can you not see that?

The only stupid thing is Ford's naivety it was clear to everyone from the outset his motives were to play for England. He was never that interested in Bath. They took the chance hoping it would pay off and it didn't. They have since spat their dummy out and carried on like its everyones fault but their own.
Had Bath and the RFU sorted their act out and had him learning a position things could have worked out differently. But they didn't the English media slated him, he missed his family and the country and most importantly he missed the game.
I'm sure it wouldn't have been a hard decision for him to make when it was all weighed up.
I can't wait to see him back in the red and green next march and back in a proper white shirt next spring.

hope he's worth it, souffs..

Burgess is the worlds biggest upgrade on Mcqueen and Grant. And the team is better off without someone of low character like Dylan Walker.

Burgess in. Mcqueen, Grant, Walker out. That is a net upgrade for Souths.

Souths have taken a hard stance and stated that taking a couple more prescribed pills than your meant to is not on. Docking pay and ultimately ripping up your contract.

Meanwhile bashing your ex partner is apparently rewarded with a new 3 year contract

Keep the faith.

Goodwin was our best last season.

We will get rid of McQueen and force out Grant too.

Plus we may send Grevsmuhl to Penrith early.

That should be enough for Sam.

The NRL has reportedly refused to register Sam Burgess' big money deal with South Sydney, with the club being ruled to be over the salary cap.

The Seven Network on Thursday night reported the game's governing body had found that even with Dylan Walker's release from the final year of his playing contract, the Rabbitohs were still over the player payment limit for 2016.
After a stint with English rugby union, Burgess was lured back to rugby league on a three-year deal, described as the richest in the game's history and believed to be worth $1.5 million a season. However, the deal has reportedly hit a roadblock with the NRL ruling the Redfern club will have to offload more talent if Burgess is to fit under the salary cap.

Queensland State of Origin back-rower Chris McQueen is rumoured to be on his way to Penrith and his departure could open up the door for Burgess' return to be finalised.
The announcement of Burgess' signing was met with much fanfare earlier this month.
Burgess is considered a hero among the Rabbitohs' faithful after a memorable performance in their drought-breaking 2014 NRL grand final win in which he famously played with a fractured cheekbone.
