and let's not forget how burgess had to play the whole second half literally on only one leg after they amputated his left foot at halftime..
If only Brett Morris had his leg amputated in the 2010 Grand Final. His foot may have been in then.

Baz, the easy out for him would have been to sit at Bath playing firsts each week and only touching the ball 3 times a game. He could have done that for the next two years and continued to collect a massive salary.

Probably still would have been picked for England for the next two years as well.

If you believe that then you vastly underestimate how professional Bath is as a club. They wouldn't have kept him around at the level of performance he had demonstrated, it would have been a case of improve or see you later.

Ford is a bit of a c**k. He waited until Burgess was on a plane to the other side of the world before he came out with this. To say a man who played 80 mins in a grand final with a broken jaw and eye socket and used to carry is dying father to bed in his teens lacks guts is laughable!

Are you from Essex? Or just an idiot? Ford never said Burgess was gutless, that would be ludicrous. He said he lacked the desire to do the hard work asked of him to be a success at Bath. Given he's back at Redfern in the sport he knows where everything is easy for him, I'd say he's bang on

I know Ford personally from his time in Australia with the ill-fated Crushers.

He was a great bloke and very fair and thoughtful in his comments.

If you think he "waited until Burgess was on a plane" to give his opinion, then you are the c*ck. For what reason?? Scared Sam would come and beat him up??

Mountain...molehill and all that.

There was nothing fair or thoughtful about what Ford said to the media about Burgess. When Burgess left South Sydney in 2014 not one person at the club said a bad word about him. Ford could have simply said he wanted to move on and focus on the next game ahead. Shows a lot about a persons character.

Pffffft

You know what Burgess was saying to Ford and Bath during all of this?

All the noises coming out of there were he had told them he was staying.

I'd be a tad pissed off if someone lied to my face to.

Agreed
It's a pretty stupid thing to say and one that comes across as a spurned lover

I didn't like Burgess going to English Rugby. Didn't think he was suited to the game and he's basically the perfect RL forward. I don't much care for the back door bullshit the NRL is reportably pulling to get him back either. But to say Burgess lacks guts given his history is a tad ridiculous

Is it so hard for all concerned to just get together at a presser thank each other for their efforts and say "it just didn't work out for either party, we wish each other the best"?

Why the need for this PR war to try and shift blame?

Could I just present some actual facts here, Burgess had a fractured cheek bone not a broken jaw. Bloody big difference, guts to play with it but let's not add to the history of the occasion.

No, none of us do, because Sam kept his thoughts out of the media and everything was said behind closed doors as it should. Unfortunately it didn't stay that way.

WTF? Sam claimed some sort of imaginary agenda was against him from some imaginary foes. I'd say his club coach should be a bit disappointed in him. I wouldn't expect anything less unless you just don't rate Sam Burgess. And I don't see a lot of that going around.

The only agenda was the agenda of the English coaching team to get him in the team when he wasn't worthy. Coach pretty much wanted Sam to be their version of SBW, didn't work and the coach had to go.

I'll take the fact his team mates told him to not bother turning up for a goodbye as a pretty fair indication of what was going on.

Great player. But spare me the "poor Sam" shit.

I'll repeat. This never happened that way at Souths. You're making excuses for the tactless way Bath handled the situation now. No-one ever said to feel sorry for Sam over it. It's just been pointed out that Bath let him go, got their transfer fee and have then carried on like children. Fair enough if that's how they want to be but know how it reflects upon the individuals involved.

Maybe he wasn't telling Souffs the whole time he was staying while doing deals with English rugby? Could make a bit of a difference to how he was treated by each club respectively.....

No he didn't. He had a sponsored column in the Daily Mail to tell everyone that he 1) missed his family, 2) wasn't bothered to stick around for 18 months to work towards becoming an international back row and 3) though there was an agenda against him.
